After failing to agree a deal in the summer, Tottenham Hotspur could be set to agree a deal involving Christian Eriksen for Paulo Dybala. Spurs were heavily linked with the Juventus star all summer; however, according to Konstantinos Lianos of the Express, Spurs could try again in January.

Contract Running out and New Challenge Wanted

Christian Eriksen is able to talk to clubs from January unless he agrees to a new deal. His current contract runs out next June. The Denmark international was linked with several clubs during the last transfer window. Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Juventus were reportedly interested.

Eriksen has admitted he could seek a new challenge after six years in London. A move to another league with a top club chasing trophies could appeal. The Dane joined Spurs in 2013 and has gone to play almost 300 games, scoring 67 goals.

PSG and Manchester United Also Interested

PSG, another club heavily linked to Dybala in the summer, failed with a bid of £73 million. The French giants could make another move in January. Manchester United were also close to signing the Argentina star; however, personal terms could not be agreed. United, could, therefore, be another to try again.

Spurs Hold the Ace Card in Eriksen for Paulo Dybala Deal

What other teams do not have in the battle for Dybala is Christian Eriksen. The attacking midfielder could prove to be the ace card in Tottenham’s negotiations. With Juventus open to the striker leaving and their past interest in Eriksen, Spurs could be the favourites to land their main target.

Although Eriksen would be a big loss to Spurs, they would be getting another international class player in return. Dybala, although struggling for game time this season, has been a success in Italy, reaching double figures in goals in each season at Juventus.
