Jack Clarke’s Loan Back to Leeds United a Concern for Tottenham Hotspur
Not Playing Will Hurt Jack Clarke’s Future
Jack Clarke had been linked with Tottenham Hotspur for sone time. When he finally secured a £10 million move this summer, it seems his dreams had come true. As part of the deal, Clarke was immediately loaned back to Leeds United. Marcelo Bielsa and Mauricio Pochettino are long time friends so the deal made sense.
Yet, other than a cameo appearance against Salford in the Carabao Cup, the youngster has done nothing more than keep the bench warm.
Tottenham Concerns
Tottenham haven’t made any comment on the situation but must be looking on with trepidation. £10 million is an investment in youth. The idea of sending him on loan is to make sure he gets minutes; to make sure he improves under Bielsa with the hope of him pushing to play for Tottenham next season. With no playing time so far, the longer it goes on, the less the chances of Jack Clarke’s loan being successful.
Stick or Twist
Should Jack Clarke find himself frozen out at Leeds United, Spurs might just have to consider ending the loan early in January. There is little point in the player kicking his heels when he could be playing cup games for Spurs at the very least.
The players’ main games for Leeds last season were from the bench. That alone made the signing a little left-field, even considering Pochettino’s commitment to youth development.
Jack Clarke needs to keep his head down and work hard to play his way into Bielsa’s plans. If he doesn’t, the loan and transfer to Tottenham might end with broken dreams.
