Latest on Pogba – Juventus and Madrid Still Battling Out
According to Alex Smith of The Mirror, Juventus are willing to offer Manchester United three players to try and land Paul Pogba. Real Madrid were reportedly previously the favourites but saw their first offer, well below United’s £150 million valuation, rejected.
This could give Juventus the chance to capitalise, as Mino Raiola seeks to push for a move. Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic or Blaise Matuidi could be the key to re-signing Pogba.
However, Dybala and United have already disagreed over wage demands, so that remains unlikely. It seems Juventus are desperate for their star-man to return to Turin.
And Pogba could be using this interested to tempt Real Madrid; Mirko Calemme of AS writes that Raiola is using second-choice Juventus to put pressure on Madrid to finalise a deal.
But, Real Madrid are currently unable to meet his price-tag as they try to fund a move by selling James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale and Mariano Diaz. After spending £300 million already this summer, signing Pogba may have to wait until next year.
Bayern Join Race For Bale
Max Winters of Mail Online claims that Bayern Munich are considering moving for Gareth Bale as an alternative for Leroy Sané. The German champions have been chasing Sané all summer, but he remains in discussion with Manchester City over a new contract.
As such, they are turning their attentions to other targets. Bale is on the fringes of Madrid’s squad and was close to a move to China earlier this summer, which the Spanish side vetoed at the eleventh hour.
Bayern have wanted new recruits on the wings all summer, after losing Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben at the end of last season. They have Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman, but still want new faces to revitalise their attack. Leroy Sané remains their number-one priority, but Bayern remain interested in Bale as a back-up.
Arsenal Face Competition For Rugani
According to Alex Terrell of The Sun, Arsenal could be disappointed in their chase for a new centre-back. The Gunners were looking at Daniele Rugani of Juventus to replace Laurent Koscielny who has moved to Bordeaux.
However, they face stern competition in the form of Wolverhampton Wanderers. Arsenal were thought to have offered a two-year loan deal for the Italian defender, but Wolves have trumped them with an offer of £30 million.
Defence has clearly been Arsenal’s Achilles Heel for many years, something that still needs rectifying this summer. After losing Koscielny, their void at the back grows ever greater. They remain interested in Dayot Upamecano and Samuel Umtiti but could be priced out of moves.
