Career So Far
Since joining Ipswich in 2014, Bialkowski has become the preferred choice between the sticks at Portman Road.
31-year-old Bialkowski has made 168 appearances for the Blues since his move to Suffolk. According to the Daily Star print edition (via the Birmingham Mail), the Pole was subject to a £1.5 million bid from Birmingham City.
The Polish international is one of the highest earners at Ipswich despite taking a wage cut following Town’s relegation; however, the shot-stopper is keen to remain playing at the highest possible level in an attempt to regain his chances with the national team.
What This Means for the Future
Ipswich have already added goalkeeper Tomas Holy to their squad. The 27-year-old joined the Tractor Boys from Gillingham towards the end of May 2019.
Bialkowski’s departure, therefore, leaves the Blues with just one other goalkeeping option in young shot-stopper Harry Wright.
The son of former Ipswich and England ‘keeper Richard has been a mainstay of the club’s U23 side throughout 2018/19.
Wright signed a professional contract until 2020 prior to Christmas 2018. The young shot-stopper has spent temporary spells away from Portman Road, featuring for East Thurrock United and Chelmsford City.
Former Blues boss Paul Hurst did, however, praise Wright’s progress towards the start of the season.
“Harry is still growing, is still developing, but I think it’s a great experience for him (to have been on the bench).” he told the East Anglian Daily Times.
“He’s very good with the ball with his feet. When he trains with us, just like any of the kids who have trained with us, he never lets himself down.”
Dean Gerken was one of ten players released by Ipswich Town at the end of last season.
