Transfer Rumours: Arsenal, Watford, Crystal Palace and Manchester City
Palace Continue Hunt for Right-Back
Crystal Palace are continuing their search for Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s replacement, and that hunt has now led them to Liverpool. Simon Jones of the Mail reports that the Eagles are in talks to sign Nathaniel Clyne.
Clyne spent part of last season on loan at Bournemouth having lost his place at Anfield. The emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold has restricted his game time and looks continue to do so. The 28-year-old began his career at Palace and could be open to a return.
Milan Striker Rejects Gunners
Rich Jones of the Mirror is reporting that Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi has rejected a move to Arsenal. Icardi was offered the chance to move to London in a deal which would have seen Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang move to Milan.
The Argentina striker is set to leave Inter this summer. However, it appears he prefers a move to Juventus. Manager Antonio Conte wants to offload Icardi this summer and wanted Aubameyang to replace him. However, in news that will please Gunners fans, it appears this deal is now not going to happen.
Hornets in Talks With Forward
According to Sky Sports Watford are in talks to sign Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr. The Hornets want the 21-year-old for around £20 million. However, Rennes value the Senegal star at £27 million. Sarr recently played for his country in the African Cup of Nations.
Should the deal happen, it would break Watford’s transfer record, with the current record standing at £18 million for Burnley’s Andre Gray. Personal terms will not be an issue should a fee be agreed. Sarr signed for Rennes from Metz in 2017 and has played 59 games scoring 13 goals.
Manchester City Transfer Rumours: Wonderkid to Sign?
Manchester City are set to sign a midfielder described as the next Lionel Messi. Alan Nixon of the Sun reports that City are set to win the £16 million race for Argentine Thiago Almada. The 18-year-old could sign this week from Velez Sarsfield.
Should City sign Almada, he will then be loaned to Sporting Lisbon for one year. The youngster is rated as the best young star in Argentina. His current club, Velez, would like him to sign a new deal that would give the club a higher release clause. However, it appears that Almada wants to link up with Pep Guardiola as soon as possible.
