Antoine Griezmann Completes Move to Barcelona

Career So Far

The playmaker joined Atelti on 28 July 2014 from Real Sociedad. Atletico are believed to have paid around €30 million (£24 million) for the French playmaker. This means they have made a substantial profit from the deal. Griezmann almost left for Manchester United in the 2016/17 season but Atletico Madrid were left stuck after a transfer ban was imposed sinking any potential deal. With Real Sociedad, Greizmann was primarily deployed as a winger but has been transformed into a complete forward at Atletico. Antoine Griezmann leaves Atletico Madrid with a total of 133 goals in 257 appearances.

Style of Play

Antoine Griezmann is the perfect team player that is comfortable in several positions. Selfless in his style of play, Greizmann works for the team rather than personal accolades. He is capable of playing in any forward position acting as a jack of all trades and will suit Barcelona. His technical skills, link-up play and vision allow Griezmann to play deeper in midfield. He has also taken the reigns as the main goal threat of Atletico. In addition to his attacking play, many people praise Greizmann for his movement, positional sense, and ability to interpret the game, which means that he can offer much more defensively than most forward players.

How Successful Can Antoine Griezmann Be?

Antoine Griezmann has spent his entire senior club career in Spain and will look to add a La Liga title to his cabinet. Playing against Barcelona and Real Madrid it’s easy to forgive the lack of trophies for Griezmann. This new chapter offers the 28-year-old a chance to win some much-desired silverware. Despite being one of the biggest names in football, Antoine Griezmann has few club level trophies to his name. Although, Griezmann has won the Europa League and UEFA Super Cup with Atletico Madrid, ending his period with the club on a high. It seems his time has come to leave and pursue greater things by playing in one of the best teams in the world. Next season could propel Griezmann to instant success.
