Nicolo Barella Transfer Rumours
Italian international Nicolo Barella is one of the most highly coveted midfielders on the market. The 22-year-old has been outstanding for Cagliari these last few seasons and it is time for him to move on to a bigger club. His suitors are Roma and Inter Milan and Cagliari has already pitted them against each other.
Inter had been the favourite to sign Barella for some time. They have had an agreement with Barella on a contract, per Fabrizio Romano. However, with Cagliari going into their centenary season, Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini is looking for a haul. The haul he wants is much closer to €50 million than Inter Milan’s valuation of roughly €35 million.
The stalemate has allowed Roma to step into the void offering a cash plus Gregoire Defrel package that has Cagliari interested. It’s a deal that Cagliari are interested in, they can always use more quality players, but Barella and his team are keen to give Inter Milan every opportunity to come to an agreement for his transfer.
Strikers on the Move
Speaking of Inter Milan, they are at the centre of the wildest section of the market; the market for strikers. Inter is in the process of making a deal for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku. First, though, they have to get rid of their own top quality finisher Mauro Icardi.
The Argentine does not want to leave Italy at all. Franco Vanni’s report for La Republica suggests that he would rather stay and see out his contract than leave the country. He is specifically looking for a move to Juventus, but that will take some incredible gymnastics. First Juve would have to find a buyer for fellow Argentine Gonzalo Higuain, and the players’ brother has already ruled out a rumoured move to Roma.
However, there are transfer rumours pointing to Higuain could still have a way out of Juventus. Goal in Italy is reporting that Diego Simeone has interest in bringing his countryman to Atletico Madrid. Any move would hinge on Atletico’s inability to come to an agreement with Chelsea over Alvaro Morata.
