EFL Transfer Rumours
Celtic and Stoke Chasing Stacey
Luton Town right-back Jack Stacey is a wanted man according to Mike McGrath of the Sun. Scottish Champions Celtic and Championship side Stoke City are both preparing £2 million bids. Stacey helped Luton back to the Championship last season and his form did not go unnoticed.
The 23-year-old, who signed for the Hatters two years ago, has one year left on his contract. Should Luton fail to agree an new deal with the player or accept a bid, they could lose the player for free next summer.
Aberdeen Showing Interest in Sunderland Midfielder
Scott Burns of the Daily Record reports that Aberdeen are interested in Dylan McGeouch. The Scot only signed for Sunderland last summer; however, he did not play as much as he would have liked. The Black Cats are also not short on numbers in midfield. This could lead to one or more leaving.
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes tried to sign McGeouch last summer but lost out to the Black Cats. It appears that McInnes will try his luck once more. The Dons are short on numbers in midfield and McGeouch would be an ideal signing. The Scottish international recently extended his deal at the Stadium of Light for another year. Should McInnes get any encouragement that a deal could be made, he is expected to move quickly.
Tractor Boys In Talks With Winger
Ipswich Town have opened talks with Bury winger Danny Mayor. Stuart Watson of the Ipswich Star reports that Mayor travelled to Portman Road to begin talks over a move. The Bury winger is set to become a free agent having not been offered a new deal by cash-strapped Bury.
Ipswich do have competition for his signature. Plymouth Argyle have already met with Mayor. Argyle are now managed by his former boss at Bury Ryan Lowe. He also has several other ex-Bury staff with him at Plymouth. The recently relegated side are hoping familiar faces could sway Mayor’s decision.
Championship Clubs Battle for Villa Striker
Four Championship clubs are interested in Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis. According to Shane Ireland of Birmingham Live, Swansea City, QPR, Hull City and Preston North End all want Davis on loan next season.
21-year-old Davis is an England U20 international. He made his Villa debut in January 2017 and has gone on to score three goals. He made seven appearances last season as Villa secured promotion back to the Premier League.
