EFL fixtures

Despite a fantastic run-in towards the end of last season, Oxford United will be looking to improve from their 12th placed finish.

The U’s look Ahead to the New Season

Oxford United will start their campaign with a trip to Sunderland. Karl Robinson’s side will make the 520-mile round trip to the Stadium of Light on Saturday, August 3.

The U’s final game of the season is at home against relegated Bolton Wanderers on May 3.

Robinson and his side are also at the Kassam Stadium on Boxing Day against Lincoln City. It will be the first time the U’s have hosted the Imps since April 2011.

Along with the visit to Sunderland on the opening day, United have been handed seven lengthy trips in their first eight away games.

The U’s face Blackpool (August 17), Fleetwood Town (September 7), Bolton (September 17), Lincoln (September 21), Accrington Stanley (October 5) and Rotherham United (October 19) in that run.

Another game for U’s fans to look out for is their first visit to Ipswich Town since 1999. Paul Lambert’s side were also relegated from the Championship last time out and host the U’s on February 22.

Robinson’s side make the short journeys to Bristol Rovers (August 24), Portsmouth (November 2), Milton Keynes Dons (December 14) and Wycombe Wanderers (March 21) on Saturdays.

International Dates

Dates to also look out for are the international breaks on September 7, October 12, November 16 and March 28.

If Oxford have a minimum of three players called up for international duty, they can postpone their league games. Gavin Whyte, Mark Sykes and Shandon Baptiste were recently selected for international action.
