Football League Transfer Rumours
Bournemouth Chase Leeds Ace
According to Wayne Veysey at Football Insider, Bournemouth have joined Southampton with the hope of signing Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips. 23-year-old Phillips had an impressive season with United as they just missed out on promotion. His form has made him one of the best midfielders outside of the Premier League.
Bournemouth’s policy of buying talented British youngsters has already seen them sign Lloyd Kelly from Bristol City for £13 million this transfer window. Leeds will be desperate to hang on to Phillips; however, a 16th consecutive season outside of the top flight faces them. United could, therefore, be powerless to stop Phillips leaving should a suitable bid be received.
Manchester City Eye Millwall Youngster
The Sun’s Mike McGrath are reporting that Manchester City are set to sign Samuel Edozie. The 16-year-old is highly thought of and City are expected to sign the youngster ahead of Chelsea. According to the report, Millwall could be set to receive £1 million for Edozie.
The Nigerian winger is one of Millwall’s top prospects. He has featured prominently for their U16 side. He has also featured for the U18’s and U19’s despite his age. Chelsea were chasing Edozie; however, City look likely to sign the player despite Millwall being desperate to keep him.
Pompey Chasing Posh Striker
Portsmouth News are reporting that Peterborough have rejected an opening offer for striker Matt Godden. The former Stevenage striker only signed for United last summer but impressed by scoring 18 goals. Portsmouth’s offer was reportedly the same as the sum Peterborough paid last year.
27-year-old Godden signed for Peterborough for a six-figure sum after impressive spells at Ebbsfleet United and Stevenage. Portsmouth will have to up their bid considerably to make Posh agree to a transfer.
Carlisle Could Lose Two Players
Carlisle United could be set to lose two key players this summer. Josh Challies at Derbyshire Live is reporting that Derby County and several other clubs are chasing Liam McCarron. The 18-year-old winger is a hot prospect and could be available for around £250,000. Frank Lampard will need to act fast with the likes of Wolves, Sheffield United and Leeds also monitoring the player.
Another player who could leave this summer is forward Hallam Hope. Journalist Alan Nixon claims that Swindon Town are hoping to sign the 25-year-old. Hope scored 15 goals last season as the Cumbrians finished in mid-table.
