Career So Far

Throughout his football career, Norwood has played for Exeter City, Forest Green Rovers and Tranmere Rovers. Last season, he scored 32 goals in 53 appearances.

The transfer, Paul Lambert’s third of the summer, signals Ipswich’s intent to challenge for an immediate return to the Championship.

The Blues were relegated from the second-tier for the first time in 62 years after a disastrous campaign.

What This Means For the Future

Norwood becomes Ipswich’s third signing of the summer after Thomas Holy and Adam Przybek completed moves to the club.

The talismanic striker finished top-scorer in League Two last season and played an instrumental role as Tranmere earned promotion via the play-offs.

Norwood has spent most of his career in non-league football; however, the 28-year-old has scored 92 goals in 189 goals since signing for Tranmere in 2015.

Before then, Norwood spent most of his time as a wide player at Forest Green. Featuring on the left-side, the goalscorer continued to contribute with 49 goals in four seasons at the Gloucestershire outfit.

But this season, Norwood has shone in League Two and finished joint top-scorer throughout England alongside Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

The addition of Norwood will add well-needed strength in depth to Ipswich’s squad. The Blues’ only senior strikers available are Kayden Jackson and Ellis Harrison; however, both have been linked with moves away from Portman Road.

Freddie Sears is also at Lambert’s disposal, but the forward is sidelined until November with an injury.

Norwood will likely be Ipswich’s main striker. The Blues are reportedly keen on adding to the attacking department after last season’s woeful tally of 36 goals from 46 League games.
