Kemar Roofe

Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe will miss the Sky Bet Championship play-off semi-final second leg with Derby County, according to BBC Sport.

Leeds United Suffer Injury Blow as Kemar Roofe Ruled Out

The Whites Will Be Without the 25-year-old Striker Due to an Injury

Roofe scored the only goal of the game against Derby County, handing the Whites a slender advantage ahead of the second leg on Wednesday. However, Marcelo Bielsa has suffered a new injury blow after losing the striker to a calf injury.

The 25-year-old joins Adam Forshaw on the sidelines, with the midfielder also to be sidelined after succumbing to a hamstring problem during the first half on Saturday.

United hope that defender Pontus Jansson will have recovered from his ankle injury; however, the Whites will be boosted by Patrick Bamford‘s return from suspension after a two-match ban for successful deception of a match official.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s second-leg, Leeds boss Bielsa said:

“(Adam) Forshaw won’t be available,” Bielsa revealed. “(Pontus) Jansson will tomorrow try to work normally. And we will see tomorrow how he is.

“Roofe won’t be available either. Kemar’s problem is more simple than Adam’s, but still he won’t be available for Wednesday’s game.

“It’s a calf problem. It’s less serious than Forshaw’s injury but we have to take care of him.”

Roofe, who scored in both league clashes against Derby earlier this term, netted in the 55th minute.

Jack Harrison‘s foul on Jayden Bogle led to Derby being awarded a penalty; however, referee Craig Pawson overturned his decision after consulting his assistant referee.

“I knew that Jayden Bogle had come in behind me but I was surprised it was called a penalty. It’s all about perspective but I was going for the ball, I had no intention to take him down.” Harrison said afterwards.

The victor of Wednesday’s second-leg will play either Aston Villa or West Bromwich Albion in the promotion final at Wembley.
