Preview: Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 26

After an eventful double gameweek, Fantasy Premier League is back with Gameweek 26. Every fantasy football manager will need to have one eye on Gameweek 27, though. Let’s find out why.

Preview: Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 26

Captaincy Picks

There are quite a few juicy matchups this gameweek. The LiverpoolBournemouth fixture is arguably the best one on paper. The Cherries generally struggle against the big boys. They also have a terrible away record. After thrashing Chelsea 4-0 at the Vitality stadium, they then went on to lose 2-0 away at Cardiff. One would expect a comfortable home win for the league leaders. However, they have become quite nervy and drawn their last two. Still, one has to play to the fixtures and the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané would be the best bets from Liverpool. The Senegalese has scored in the last 3 Premier League matches. Salah, on the other hand, has had two blanks but one cannot expect his barren run to go on for much longer. Andrew Robertson and Roberto Firmino are also good picks from this game.

Arsenal travel to rock bottom Huddersfield Town this Saturday. The Gunners were brushed aside by Manchester City last week but this is a match they are likely to win. The Terriers were beaten 5-0 by Chelsea and show no signs of improvement. This makes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a very strong contender for the armband. He has a great record against the average sides. His partner, Alexandre Lacazette, is in good form as well and could also be an option. A crucial thing to keep in mind if you want to bring either of the two Arsenal strikers is that they have two back-to-back home games after this against Southampton and Bournemouth. So, potentially, Arsenal have three great fixtures coming up. Sead Kolasinac is also worth considering as he tends to attack down the flanks almost exclusively. The big Bosnian doesn’t seem to like defending much.

Other Top Contenders

One has to keep in mind that four teams will have no matches in Gameweek 27. Those teams are Manchester City, Chelsea, Everton, and Brighton & Hove Albion. With that in mind, some might want to get rid of their City and Chelsea attacking assets especially. This week, they are facing Chelsea in the match of the week. One would expect City to win, though, considering the form they are in.  Sergio Agüero and Raheem Sterling could both do well in this match. Eden Hazard has a blank and a game against Spurs coming up. So, one cannot be blamed if he decided to sell the Belgian this week.

Manchester United have been in superb form under Ole Gunnar Solskjær and they will be expected to win quite comfortably at Craven Cottage against struggling Fulham. Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba are strong contenders for the captaincy.

Differentials to Consider

Tottenham Hotspur face Leicester City at Wembley in a game that promises to be quite tricky considering the form Leicester have against the top six teams. Regardless, Son Heung-min is in magnificent form and his owners would be expecting another solid return from the South Korean.

Southampton are in good form under their new manager Ralph Hasenhüttl. They face Cardiff City at home. Both teams are fighting against the drop and this could be an eventful match. James Ward-Prowse has scored three goals in the last four games whereas Nathan Redmond is also in decent touch. They could be considered as your differentials.

Wolves got an impressive away win at Everton last week. They are facing Newcastle at home this week. This is the type of game where everyone expects Wolves to win easily but then they disappoint. Earlier in the season, Huddersfield went to the Molineux and won 2-0 which angered many Fantasy Premier League managers. Let’s hope that won’t be the case this week as many will have two or three Wolves players in their starting 11. Raúl Jiménez could be a good pick along with Matt Doherty and Rui Patricio.
