Latest on James McClean, Marc McNulty, Lukas Jutkiewicz and Tyrone Mings
O’Neill Wants Reunion With Winger
New Nottingham Forest manager Martin O’Neill is reportedly keen on a reunion with James McClean. O’Neill gave the winger his debut while at Sunderland and also worked with him when he was the Republic of Ireland boss.
McClean joined his current club, Stoke City, in the summer for £5 million. He was a regular under Gary Rowett, however, since new manager Nathan Jones has arrived he has been on the bench. The winger could jump at the chance of joining up with O’Neill again. Stoke are keen to trim their squad and if Forest can agree a fee then McClean could be on the move again.
The Latest Striker to be Linked With Sunderland
Sunderland’s search for a new striker continues. A second bid for Wigan’s Will Grigg has been rejected. Now, Reading’s out-of-favour forward Marc McNulty is being linked. The striker only signed last summer from Coventry for around £1 million. This was after scoring 23 goals as the Sky Blues gained promotion.
The 26-year-old has struggled since his move, scoring just once. Sunderland could be keen on a loan deal, to begin with. If the Black Cats lose out on their believed number one target in Grigg, McNulty could be their next target.
Boro target Birmingham Striker
Middlesbrough are reportedly keen to bring Lukas Jutkiewicz back to the Riverside. The striker spent time at Boro earlier in his career before moving to Burnley. Jutkiewicz has been one of Birmingham’s stars under Garry Monk, scoring ten goals so far this season.
Monk has advised that none of his players are for sale. However, with Tony Pulis set to make a move for the striker and several clubs looking at Che Adams, he could have a battle to keep hold of them.
Mings to Move to West Brom?
Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings is a target for Championship promotion hopefuls West Brom. Versatile defender Mings has struggled for game time this season. West Brom are looking at a loan deal. Mings cost the Cherries £8 million when he signed, but could be allowed to leave.
Baggies boss Darren Moore could lose defenders this month and wants Mings in case of a worst case scenario. The defender, however, could want insurances over first-team football before any deal is agreed.
