Fulham and Newcastle to Make a Swap Deal?

New Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri is keen to bring midfielder Jonjo Shelvey to the club. In order to get his man, Ranieri is willing to send club captain in the other direction.

Newcastle Rafa Benitez has dismissed these reports. However, Benitez has been a long time admirer of Cairney. Meanwhile, Shelvey has only made nine league appearances this season. With funds at Newcastle limited, an exchange could be a good opportunity to mix up the squad.

Cairney is arguably the more creatively talented, but Shelvey would give Fulham a toughness that has been missing this season.

Junior Firpo in Demand

22-year-old left-back Junior Firpo is being tracked by Europe’s biggest sides. The Real Betis star has shone this season, playing a significant role in helping Betis to sixth place going into the winter break.

Real Madrid have identified Firpo as their number one target. Marcelo, Real’s stand out left-back, has been linked with a move to Juventus. Irrespective of whether he leaves, Madrid are keen to sign a long-term replacement for the 30-year-old. Madrid had signed Theo Hernandez to do this; however, Hernandez has failed to develop as hoped.

Junior Firpo recently signed a new long-term contract, which contains a €50 million release clause. Real Madrid will, however, face competition, as Arsenal and Manchester City have also been linked with Firpo.

Hudson-Odoi to Germany?

As reported yesterday, Bayern Munich want for Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi. The 18-year-old winger has impressed during fleeting appearances this season. An initial bid of £13 million was rejected but Bayern are preparing a second £20 million bid.

Hudson-Odoi has made only one league appearance this season and is keen to play more first-team football. Having seen fellow young Englishmen Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson impress in Germany, a move to the Bundesliga could tempt Hudson-Odoi. Chelsea are understood to be keen on inserting a buy back clause into any deal.
