Latest on Alvaro Morata, Pogba, Cahill and Gross
Morata to Barcelona?
Reports from Spain are indicating that Barcelona are chasing Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata. The Spanish giants are looking for reinforcements up front and could sign Morata in January. Barca are looking at a loan deal initially with a view to a permanent move next summer.
The former Real Madrid forward could welcome a return to Spain after enduring a tough time since arriving at Stamford Bridge. The 26-year-old has failed to secure the regular place in the first-team he craves and, having flattered to deceive, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri could be willing to let him leave.
Juventus Want Pogba Back
The Pogba rumour mill continues as Juventus are reportedly lining up an £80 million bid. The French star impressed at the World Cup; however, his form at Manchester United fails to live up to expectations. If Juventus come calling, Pogba would likely welcome the move.
Before the recent game between the two sides, Pogba indicated that Turin was his home. During his time in Turin, Pogba was a fan favourite winning four league titles. He was considered one of the best players in the world. However, after his big money move to Old Trafford, his form is nowhere near what it was and has ultimately proved to be an expensive flop. Could he recapture his form at United or will he favour a move back to Italy?
Cahill on Arsenal’s Radar
Chelsea are willing to let captain Gary Cahill leave in January. Boss Maurizio Sarri believes he has better options in defence and therefore has advised the defender he is free to leave if he wishes. Aston Villa were reportedly interested; however, Arsenal have now entered the race for his signature.
The 32-year-old is in the last year of his current contract but Chelsea are understood to be only offering a one year deal. Arsenal, who are in need of defensive reinforcements, could offer a longer contract and give the player move game time. The Gunners, however, have other targets which means the defender could still link up with his former teammate John Terry at Villa.
Klopp Considering Gross Move
Liverpool are interested in Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross. Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen to bring in an extra attacking midfielder and could offer £15 million in January for the German. Having joined Brighton in 2017, he won their Player of the Year award last season. This season he has been in and out the team through injury.
Klopp has a history of signing players from teams lower down in the league and making them Liverpool first-team regulars. The 27-year-old German could be the next in line for a move to Anfield. The Reds boss is a keen admirer of Gross having known him since he was a youngster in German.
