Preview: Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 15
With every team having played at the weekend, there isn’t a big turnaround period for the players. This is how things will be in the next month or so. Hence, rotation will be the order of the day for the Premier League managers. Fantasy managers will need a good bench to cover for unexpected situations.
Captaincy Picks
Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City all are away from home this mid-week. So, the usual candidates for the armband, Mohamed Salah, Eden Hazard and Sergio Aguero, are not as straightforward. On paper, Liverpool have the easiest fixture among the three, so Salah could be a good option as your captain. Burnley have been terrible so far this season and the Egyptian should have a good game there. Liverpool have not been able to turn it on recently, though.
Aguero was missing from the squad against Bournemouth. Even though Pep Guardiola has mentioned a slight muscular injury, fully expect him to start against Watford. Reports have emerged that he is training normally with the squad. So, the Argentine should start the match at Watford having got a rest. However, he might be taken off early if City are in a good position with the Chelsea game at the weekend in mind.
Hazard has a tough looking away fixture against Wolves. Nuno Espírito Santo’s team generally do well against the big teams so the match at Molineux will not be an easy one for the Blues.
Out of the three, Salah seems to be the best bet.
Differentials to Consider
On paper, Spurs v Southampton is the most mouth-watering matchup this week. One has to seriously look at Harry Kane for the armband. The Saints hardly have the meanest defence and it should be a comfortable victory for Spurs. Kane, also, is in decent form, so he could get a goal or two. He starts every game so there’s very little chance of rotation with him.
Glenn Murray has scored most of his goals at home this season and has a reasonable looking fixture against Crystal Palace. He could be a sneaky captaincy pick this week.
Everton have Newcastle at home so the likes of Richarlison could be worth considering. Lucas Digne is the designated set-piece taker these days and is always doing well with the bonus points so he could be thought about too.
With Arsenal in sublime form, a trip to Old Trafford doesn’t look as daunting. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has already reached double figures in terms of goals scored and who would bet against him netting a goal or two at the Theatre of Dreams?
One could consider Marko Arnautovic as well, at home to Cardiff. The Bluebirds have improved recently, though, so they cannot be taken for granted. Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser at home to Huddersfield are also decent options this week.
With both Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane starting against Bournemouth, there is a good chance of Riyad Mahrez starting this game. Could he be the man against Watford?
