Preview: Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 11
An exciting week is in store for the Fantasy Premier League managers with Gameweek 11 and some very interesting fixtures.
Captaincy Picks
The first option has to be Aguero. At home to lowly Southampton, one must strongly consider the Argentine this week as their FPL captain. He did not come on in the Carabo cup last night as well so should be fresh and raring to go. The only problem is the tendency of Pep to take him off after 65 minutes almost every match. Manchester City get some goals early on and then Pep brings on Jesus. Aguero has not been able to register monster scores because of this. He is a stable captain pick but has to do the damage in the first half.
There are other interesting captaincy options this week. One can make a strong case for Mo Salah, who seems to be in great form. Away to Arsenal is a tough looking fixture but considering the number of scoring chances the Gunners seem to give the opposition, one cannot help but wonder how many goals can the lethal strikeforce of Liverpool score. Arsenal also have some injury concerns at the back. It wouldn’t surprise me if Salah comes away with a goal or two from the Emirates.
Eden Hazard is also a very strong contender for the armband this week. However, his starting status is still in doubt. He should start and if he does, at home to Palace he should do well.
A different captain pick could be Benjamin Mendy. Unlike Aguero, he normally plays the full 90 minutes when he starts. He also has 6 assists from 7 matches this season and is always fighting for those Bonus points. Southampton have trouble scoring so City should be able to keep a clean sheet as well. He could be a really intriguing option for the armband this week.
Injury Concerns
Kevin De Bruyne limped off 3 minutes from time against Fulham in the Carabao Cup. The extent of this new injury is not known yet but one might assume KDB will not take part on the weekend.
Marko Arnautovic has a decent home fixture this week and many are considering him. However, he is carrying a knock and although he should start, it is always a risk.
Manuel Pellegrini on Marko Arnautovic’s game-time v Spurs: “Marko just worked one day during the week so it was too risky to play more than 30 minutes. He has no problem but he always has some sort of disturbance with his knee but it is not an injury.”
Pascal Gross will miss out once again for Brighton.
Monreal and Kolasinac are both uncertain to be ready to face Liverpool this week. More concrete team news will come from Emery’s press conference but for now it seems like Xhaka might continue at Left Back. Bellerin is also a doubt. In midfield, Elneny is injured and Guendouzi is suspended so Emery might have to play Xhaka in midfield and Lichsteiner at Left Back. If he goes with Ramsey to partner Xhaka, things could get ugly for Arsenal’s defence.
