Real Madrid is arguably the best an most successful club in the history of football. They have by far the most Champions League titles and the most La Liga titles. Currently, the club is going through a long negative phase that might possibly lead to a downfall.
Real Madrid To Suffer Titanic Downfall
Around this time last season, Real Madrid were also in poor form. Cristiano Ronaldo was on a goal drought, the club was getting poor results. Zinedine Zidane was able to turn things around and win the Champions League title. The Los Blancos seemed like they were going to dominate the world for years to come.
Now that Zidane and Ronaldo have left the club, Real Madrid is struggling to make it back up. Starting with the Cristiano Ronaldo effect. The club’s tactics revolved around the Portuguese player, like Lionel Messi at Barcelona, but with a different role.
The 33-year-old was the one that finished nearly everything that was given to him. While the wingers and midfielders worked to get the ball to Ronaldo while all he did was finish.
Many criticize him for scoring most of his goals right in front of the net, though these goals are the game changers. His positioning was excellent and the former Manchester United man knew exactly how to exploit the best defences in Europe.
Real Madrid wasn’t able to find the right man to replace Ronaldo. Maybe there isn’t anyone who is able to replace the club’s all-time top goalscorer. This is why a shift in formation needed to take place, though both ways proved not to be effective.
Lopetegui has tried everything. He tried to place Gareth Bale or Karim Benzema in Ronaldo’s spot, both have failed to make the impact the Juventus player did for the team.
The Spanish coach has tried to change the tactics of the club, making them play more as a whole than relying on one player. This also did not work, the team’s identity for the last nine years revolved around Ronaldo.
Imagine a Barcelona without Messi, a Real Madrid without Ronaldo. It doesn’t work well for the clubs. It will take time to adjust to a new style of play, though this might not happen.
They might suffer a downfall similar to AC Milan’s, the club hopes that this will not happen and are trying everything to fix the chaos at the club.
