Seventh in the table with just one defeat in eight matches, Wolverhampton Wanderers have taken the Premier League by storm this season. Their players have been pretty successful in the Fantasy Premier League as well.
Fantasy Premier League Options at Wolves
Overview
One of the most attractive things about Wolves’ players is the consistency of team selection by the manager, Nuno Espírito Santo. The starting eleven has not changed so far and everyone is performing their particular jobs properly. So, if you pick someone from Wolves, you are saving yourself from a rotation headache. There are some really great options to choose from as well and they have some decent fixtures coming up. Even though they will face Arsenal and Tottenham soon, they have four good fixtures out of the next six (Watford, Brighton, Huddersfield and Cardiff).
Goalkeeper
Rui Patrício (4.6) has been an amazing keeper pick so far. Home or away does not matter to him as he has been performing quite brilliantly, keeping four clean sheets. Actually, he has become one of those ‘must-picks’ this season. At that price, he needs to be your ‘set and forget’ keeper.
Defenders
All the starting defenders are available at low prices, so one of them should be in your side.
The unheralded Matt Doherty (4.7) has been a real star this season. He has scored big in the last two games and is always a real attacking threat. His combination play with the other attackers has also been quite good. One has to wonder how long this form will continue but for now, Doherty is showing no signs of stopping.
Jonny (4.5) has also been quite threatening down the other wing but has not hit the big numbers like Doherty that consistently. However, the potential is definitely there. If you want to be a little different, maybe Jonny could be your go to man.
The other three defenders, Willy Boly, Ryan Bennett and Conor Coady, are all providing decent returns. Bennett (4.2) has been a great enabler. Boly is probably the biggest goal threat but with a solid defence like the one Wolves have, you can’t go wrong with any of them.
Midfielders
Even though Wolves are playing well and getting the results, their midfield options have not contributed with Fantasy Premier League points as much as the defenders. Jota has been the biggest disappointment considering how far forward he plays. His price has fallen from 6.5 to 6.1 as a result. He is involved quite a lot but is probably missing that little bit of luck.
Ruben Neves (5.1) had a blinder against Everton in the opening fixture with a goal and assist but since then he has not done anything from an attacking sense. He could score any moment, though, with his long-range shots and set pieces so the threat remains.
Another one with a good long-range shot in his is the veteran Joao Moutinho (5.5). However, considering how deep he plays, better options are probably elsewhere.
The most intriguing pick is Adama Traoré (5.5). He is coming on for 25-30 minutes every game and poses a massive danger to the opposition with his pace. He scored the winner against West Ham as well. If he can nail down a starting spot, he could be a very interesting pick indeed. Hélder Costa is the one most under threat from him.
Ivan Cavaleiro has returned from injury recently and could come into the side if Nuno decides to change things around.
Forwards
Raúl Jiménez (5.6) is a quality option upfront who can free up some units for you. He has scored two goals but, more interestingly, has provided three assists as well. One has to seriously consider him as he is a sure starter and a huge attacking threat. That price is really tempting. It is lower than the other budget strikers Callum Wilson, Glenn Murray and Aleksandar Mitrovic. To fit in the big guns like Mo Salah, Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Eden Hazard, one might consider bringing in the Mexican to provide a better balance to the squad.
