Dele Alli started his football playing career at MK Dons and scored 24 goals in 88 appearances. By February 2015, Alli was back at MK Dons on loan after signing a five-year deal for £5 million with Tottenham Hotspur. Fast forward to 2018 and Alli is one of the most talented players in the Premier League. In the 2017 Champions League against Real Madrid at Wembley stadium, Alli was sensational and prices of over £100 million started to be mentioned. As his stock continues to rise, there is continued talk of Dele Alli leaving Tottenham.
Why Would Dele Alli Leave Tottenham?
The modern era of football is about money – big money signings. Agents acting like the proverbial hawks waiting to get big money. For their players? Maybe. For themselves? Much more likely.
Alli’s rise to fame has been a fast one and that has included notoriety for alleged ‘dives’ and gasps for incredible goals, nutmegs and sheer impudence. Alli is not fazed by big-name players he comes up against. He has that attitude of a player who has no inhibitions. In 2016, just 11 days after signing an extended contract with Spurs, Alli scored perhaps his best goal to date. He flicked the ball over his head, controlled and rocketed home against Crystal Palace. It felt like the moment that Alli truly arrived.
Why Leave Spurs?
Whilst the attraction to clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona would get anyone dreaming, Alli has no need to leave Tottenham Hotspur. He has a manager who not only protects him but pushes him to be himself both off and on the football pitch. This season sees Spurs in the Champions League again and with games against the aforementioned Barcelona and also Juventus, Alli is at a club where he can flourish and achieve success. Not only success, but long-term success. His time for foreign climes will come but it is not now.

Spurs may not have won anything under Pochettino but the club is set up for success. An incredible training facility, a new stadium that, once ready, will be one of the best in the world, and a manager who is fully bought into what Spurs are doing for long-term gain.
£100 million? More? The money should not matter to Dele Alli. To become even better, Alli needs to remain at Spurs. Keep learning and allow Pochettino to keep nurturing his undoubted talent.
