Timothy Fosu-Mensah Spending Season at Craven Cottage
Newly-promoted Fulham have really taken advantage of the transfer window. In addition to Timothy Fosu-Mensah, the Cottagers brought in Jean-Michel Serri, Aleksandr Mitrovic and Alfie Mawson on permanent deals.
As far as loans go, Fulham also signed Andre Schurrle and Calum Chambers for the season.
Versatile Signing
Fosu-Mensah plays predominantly as a centre-back or full-back but can be deployed as a defensive midfielder. He has also seen minutes in more advanced roles with the Manchester United reserves.
The 20-year-old has already made 12 first-team appearances for the Red Devils, whom he joined from Ajax in 2014.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah spent last season on loan with Crystal Palace and former boss Frank De Boer, where he helped them to Premier League safety. The player made 21 league appearances, plus three matches between the domestic cups.
The player has also broken into the Netherlands national team, featuring three times for his country.
Fosu-Mensah has been praised for his maturity, discipline and tactical awareness. The player is also very intelligent, often finding success through excellent positioning and tackling. Crystal Palace fans will remember his tackle on Huddersfield’s Stevie Mounie last August.
Free-Spending Fulham
With this signing, Fulham again make it known that they will not be easy to beat this season. Alongside fellow promoted side Wolves, the Cottagers look to take the division by storm.
Fosu-Mensah will add both depth and quality to their back line. His versatility may come in to play as well, as there is no predicting when or where injuries will occur throughout a season.
Fulham fans must be ecstatic over their club’s willingness to invest in top talent, as their safety is looking more and more assured.
