Latest On Woodburn’s Loan
The 18-year-old has been loaned out with the purpose of gaining some much-needed match experience. This would be hard to come by at Liverpool. Woodburn has made 11 appearances for the Reds, scoring one goal.
He has also played seven times for Wales, where he has also notched a singular goal. His only goal for Liverpool came on his debut against Leeds in the League Cup in 2016. This goal made him Liverpool’s youngest goalscorer ever, at just 17 years of age, taking that title away from Michael Owen, a potentially good omen.
Blades manager Chris Wilder has branded Woodburn “a great signing”. The Liverpool youngster will be looking to impress his new boss in the upcoming Championship season. Woodburn’s career could take off with this loan move. With obvious potential, this loan move could be the key to showcasing Woodburn’s talent on a consistent basis.
Don’t be surprised if you see the Welshman lighting up the second tier this season; he’s got the potential for it. The Championship has historically been the place for young talent to prove their worth. This was shown in Liverpool’s case last season. Both Marco Grujic and Harry Wilson shone last season for Cardiff and Hull respectively.
Jurgen Klopp has an eye for young talent, his faith in both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez prove just that. Woodburn will have this at the back of his mind; he has two managers to impress this season. The youngster won’t be young forever, this season he has to take his career by the scruff of the neck and prove to the footballing world that he can make it at the top level.
