Football League Transfer News
Mawson to Fulham?
Premier League new boys Fulham have joined the race to sign Swansea’s Alfie Mawson. A number of clubs have been linked to the 24-year-old defender; however, it appears that Fulham are prepared to pay the £20 million valuation that Swansea have given him.
The highly-rated defender impressed last season even though the Swans were relegated. In March, he was given his first England call-up by Gareth Southgate. Although Fulham now appear to be the front-runners, no deal has yet to be agreed.
Bolton Agree Fee For Striker
Bolton Wanderers are reportedly closing in on deal for Charlton’s Northern Ireland international forward Josh Magennis. A fee is believed to have been agreed but as, yet the figure has not been disclosed.
Peterborough United are also interested in Magennis and have had a bid rejected. They may return with a new offer; however, Bolton can offer Championship football. Charlton rejected a bid from Bolton in January but it now appears that the deal will go through.
Black Cats to Sign Two
Sunderland are close to completing deals for two new players. Peterborough United defender Jack Baldwin is expected to be confirmed soon. The two clubs agreed a fee and Baldwin has been on Wearside for a medical. The 25-year-old has also reportedly agreed personal terms.
A fee and personal terms have also been agreed for Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Luke O’Nien. The 23-year-old was a key member of Wycombe’s promotion side last season. Several League One clubs have been chasing him but it appears that Sunderland have won the race.
Shrewsbury Sign Huddersfield Keeper
Shrewsbury Town have completed the loan signing of keeper Joel Coleman. The 22-year-old arrives on a season-long loan deal from Huddersfield Town. Coleman is highly thought of at Huddersfield and they have recently extended his contract.
He made four appearances last season. Terriers boss David Wagner wants the keeper to get game time and he could make his Shrewsbury debut against Bradford on August 4th.
Wycombe re-sign Forward
Wycombe Wanderers have re-signed forward Randell Williams from Watford. 21-year-old Williams had a spell on loan at Wycombe last season where he impressed. He has signed until January. He becomes the club’s fourth signing of the summer as they look to establish themselves in League One.
Forest Green Striker Wanted
Sunderland and Aberdeen are set to do battle over striker Christian Doidge. The 25-year-old has scored over 50 goals since joining his current club in 2016. It is understood that Forest value Doidge at around £750,000. Several other clubs are reportedly interested but it appears that Sunderland and Aberdeen are the current front-runners. Both clubs are looking to strengthen their forward lines ahead of the new season and Doidge is definitely an option for both.
