MOSCOW, RUSSIA (June 20, 2018) – Cristiano Ronaldo has scored more goals in two World Cup matches this year than his first three World Cups.
Ronaldo has added four goals to his resume this World Cup in Russia. After scoring a hat-trick in Portugal’s 3-3 draw with Spain, Ronaldo wasn’t finish with his group stage scoring.
Portugal 1-0 Morocco: Ronaldo’s lone tally pushes Portugal past Morocco
The 33-year-old striker scored the game-winning goal against Morocco. The African nation has officially been eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, Portugal is sitting pretty in their group. As it stands, Portugal is on top of the group with four points. However, Iran is close behind with three points — but have a tough task against Spain later today.
So far in this tournament, Ronaldo has taken 10 shots resulting in four goals. He is currently the top goal-scorer of the tournament. Yesterday, Dennis Cherysehv tied Ronaldo with three goals.
In total, Portugal took 10 shots today, with two registering on goal. Moroccan goalkeeper Munir made a big save against Gonçalo Guedes in the 39th minute to prevent a lead by double.
On the other end, Rui Patrício made three saves for Portugal.
