French striker Antoine Griezmann has made a video declaring his intention to stay at Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, effectively rejecting FC Barcelona. The Catalan side have been strongly linked with the Atletico star for a while now. The decision to make the video has not gone down well in the football world. Even Barcelona fans are annoyed by it. The display stinks of pretentiousness and arrogance.

The Decision
The video is similar to LeBron James’ announcement when he decided to join Miami Heat over his hometown club the Clevland Cavillers. This was titled ‘The Decision’ and was a notorious PR disaster for the basketball star. Griezmann is a keen NBA star so it is truly bizarre why he would wish to replicate such a horrible marketing disaster. Griezmann has even labelled the video ‘The Decision’. If he is fully aware of how poorly LeBron James video was received, why on Earth would he feel that it would be a good idea to do a similar announcement?
Pretentious
Unlike LeBron James, Antoine Griemann is not one of the best players in his sport. The Frenchman is world-class but LeBron James was on another level relative to performances and standing in his field. With less fanfare generated naturally already, it is very odd that Griezmann would try and create his own. The French star has created unnecessary attention for himself. The whole thing could’ve been sorted out a lot quicker.

Antoine Griezmann staying will come as a massive boost to Atletico Madrid. The Europa League champions relied heavily on his 29 goals last season. Barcelona will now turn their attention elsewhere. Anthony Martial is rumoured to want out of Manchester United and the young French star could be a good replacement for the ageing Luis Suarez. Barcelona have been made to look silly by this entire Greizman fiasco. They will need to make a big name signing quickly in order to put the entire incident behind them.
