Italian giants AS Roma have completed the signing of Dutch starlet Justin Kluivert. The 19-year-old, one-time-capped Holland international is to arrive in the eternal city after a fee, believed to be in the region of £17.5 million, was agreed between Roma and Ajax. The winger is the son of Netherlands and Barcelona legend Patrick Kluivert, and a move out of Holland may work well for the teen as he attempts to step out of his father’s shadow and forge a legacy of his own.

The 19-year-old had been linked with English giants Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur before electing to move to Italy. The youngster contributed 11 goals and five assists in all competitions last season. These are good numbers for a teenage winger. He has ability and productivity that Roma will be keen to nurture and expand on. The wingers’ style of play has drawn comparisons to Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The winger likes to cut inside and shoot and is also a talented dribbler of the ball. Justin Kluivert has admitted that he idolises the reigning Ballon d’Or champion.

The Controversies of Justin Kluivert

When Columbian centre-back Davison Sanchez was in negotiations to join his new club Tottenham Hotspur, Ajax attempted to include the then 18-year-old in the deal. Tottenham Hotspur accepted this arrangement, however, Justin Kluivert did not want to leave and rejected the deal.

The winger has mad no secret of his desire to leave Amsterdam this summer and cites that transfer fiasco as a major catalyst behind his decision to leave. On the matter, he was recently quoted as saying “I heard about that at the last minute. That says nothing about Ajax, but about the people in the club, they do what they want. I get that feeling again, they do what they want.”
