FTN: Latest on Grealish, Shaqiri, Maddison and Lindelof

Welcome to Football Transfer News brought to you by Last Word on Football. In today’s edition: the futures of Jack Grealish, Xherdan Shaqiri, Victor Lindelof and which Merseyside club is making the first move for highly rated Norwich midfielder James Maddison.

Aston Villa to decide on Jack Grealish

The Aston Villa hierarchy is to meet this week to discuss which players to keep and sell before the start of pre-season and Jack Grealish, the highly rated English midfielder, is likely to have his future decided. Tottenham are interested in the midfielder. Aston Villa value Jack Grealish near the £40 million mark. However, Tottenham chairman Danial Levy is rumoured to believe that he can capitalise on Villa’s financial situation and secure the players signing for a lower fee of around £15 million.

Liverpool after Shaqiri

Liverpool are reportedly pondering a move for Swiss star Xherdan Shaqiri following the Nabil Fekir transfer fiasco. The Stoke star wants to leave the Potters following their relegation to the Championship. The former Basel and Bayern Munich winger has a reported relegation clause in his contract. This means that he can leave the Brittania for a fee of around £12 million.

Lindelof to Everton?

Everton are chasing Manchester United flop Victor Lindelof. The Swedish defender arrived at Old Trafford for a fee in the region of £30 million from Portuguese giants Benfica. His first season was littered with mistakes and he only featured in the Premier League 17 times. This has not deterred the Toffees who are contemplating a £32 million bid for the Swede. Manchester United are heavily linked with Belgian star Toby Alderweireld. As a result, it is likely that they will want to get Lindelof off their books to make room for the Spurs man.

Everton make first move for James Maddison

Everton are also expected to make the first bid for highly rated Norwich midfielder James Maddison. The England Under-21 star is valued at £25 million. Everton face competition from Leicester City and local rivals Liverpool. Maddison scored 14 goals for Norwich last season to help them finish 14th and avoid a relegation dogfight.
