Latest on Fellaini, Mane, Alderweireld and Stoke’s Targets
Free Agent Fellaini
Belgium midfielder Marouane Fellaini is a rumoured target for Arsenal. The Manchester United player’s contract is due to expire at the end of June. Once his contract is fulfilled, Fellaini will be free to join a new club for free. New Arsenal manager Unai Emery is a rumoured fan of the Belgian. The former PSG manager was even reported to have considered bringing the former Everton star to the French capital.
Stoke Hoping to Bounce Back
Recently-relegated Stoke City are in reported talks to sign both Benik Afobe and James McClean. The Potters hope to make a swift return to the Premier League with two marquee signings. Wolves only signed Afobe permanently last week for a reported fee of £10 million. However, the recently promoted side will reportedly sell the striker if they can make an instant profit on him with a fee of £12 million being mentioned in a potential deal.
Stoke are hoping to add the experience of Republic of Ireland international James McClean. The Derry man was relegated last season with West Brom. The two clubs are still haggling over a fee so this one may drag out.
Toby Alderweireld
Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld is the subject of continued speculation regarding his future today. The centre-back continues to be linked with a move away from North London, with Manchester United appearing to be the most likely destination. The Belgian international suggested that Tottenham will make the final decision on his future. Alderweireld was quoted as saying “I have another two years contract. Tottenham decides about my future. Of course, I have my own idea. But that is not the case now”.
Madrid Target Liverpool Ace
Mohammed Salah set the footballing world alight at Liverpool this season, so it may come as a surprise to some that Spanish giants Real Madrid are targetting his teammate Sadio Mane. The Senegalese attacker’s season was overshadowed by his Liverpool teammates’ record-breaking season. However, his 20 goals and eight assists did not go unnoticed in the Spanish capital. Losing Mane to the side that defeated them in the Champions League final will be a bitter pill for Liverpool fans to swallow.
