This is the type of stage AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho relishes. His side sits seventh in Serie A, but he’ll be happy to boast if he’s in position to add another trophy to his coffers.
Despite their less-than-inspiring league position, Roma features a collection of players that can produce quality results on the pitch. Former Juventus dynamo Paulo Dybala leads the side with seven goals, but midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini is a top-tier creator and forward Tammy Abraham provides a central striking presence at 6-foot-2.
Sporting Lisbon is a Portuguese powerhouse that has the talent to advance deep into the tournament. They face off against domestic heavies Benfica, Porto, and Braga before meeting Danish side FC Midtjylland.
