Celtics vs. Blazers Best Player Props
Jayson Tatum Over 29.5 Points
Tatum sat Monday’s second leg of a back-to-back with a knee contusion. It was likely a case of load management after he played 49 minutes and hoisted 30 shots – including 17 from deep on Sunday. Tatum will return to find himself in the proverbial “stopper” role.
The Celtics are riding a three-game skid and have dropped four of their last five. They can’t afford too many tallies in the L column if they’re going to clip the Bucks for the conference’s top seed. Meanwhile, not only is Portland a poor defensive team (27th in rating), but they’re playing their fourth game of a six-game road trip.
Jayson Tatum (+4.5) vs. Damian Lillard
Lillard is on an electrifying run. Not just of late, but for the season. He’s averaging 32.4 points overall and 34.2 points over the last five. That doesn’t even include the 71, 60, or 50-point performances he tallied since the turn of the calendar.
We’re still taking the points with Tatum in this spot. Granted, it will require a team effort from Boston to slow Lillard. However, as we’ll touch on in a bit, there’s reason to hypothesize that Tatum will be tasked with shouldering a heavier load on Wednesday to allow a half breather for guys like Jaylen Brown, who put in another grueling shift on Monday.
Cam Reddish Over 2.5 Assists
Reddish is slated for starter minutes again on Wednesday, and he’s demonstrated that he possesses a well-rounded game. He reached three-plus assists in four of the six games in which he recorded at least 30 minutes of run, and finished Monday’s game third in usage behind Damian Lillard and Jerami Grant.
One has to figure Reddish is good for at least two assists just by sharing the floor with Lillard. Slight jokes aside, it’s reasonable to bet on Reddish continuing to produce with his opportunity for extended playing time.
Jaylen Brown Under 26.5 Points | Under 2.5 Threes
Brown is putting in yeoman’s work of late, surpassing the 40-minute marker in three consecutive games, all since March 3. Brown is certainly in his physical prime, so we’re not talking about a player who could break down at any minute. It’s still fair to ask if this is a spot the Celtics employ some degree of load management.
If you subscribe to the idea that the Celtics could ease up on Brown’s minutes or usage tonight – even slightly – it’s not a bad idea to explore the best Under prices sportsbooks have to offer. Naturally, if a player is destined to stay Under the total due to fatigue or decreased usage, it will likely be complemented by an Under from beyond the arc as well.
