NBA 2K25 Cover Athletes Revealed

Jayson Tatum is an NBA 2k25 cover athlete.

Fans are always intrigued as to which athletes will be on the cover of the next iteration of a sports video game series. Whether it’s the NBA 2K series, MLB The Show, Madden, or the NHL series, it’s quite the honor for a player to be bestowed as the cover athlete.

NBA2K announced on Wednesday morning who will be the cover athletes of their upcoming NBA 2K25 video game which is due to come out in September. There are three different players (two active, one retired) who will grace this year’s covers. The NBA standard edition cover athlete is Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum. A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces will be on the cover of the WNBA standard edition version. Both Tatum and Wilson are featured on the cover of the All-Star Edition version of the game. Finally, the Hall of Fame edition of NBA 2K25 will have a new member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, Vince Carter, on the cover.

These three join other basketball legends such as Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Diana Taurasi, Allen Iverson, Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Shaquille O’Neal, and numerous others to have their face on the cover of an NBA 2K game.

It has been quite the year for the 26-year-old Tatum, and it could get even better. His Celtics won the 2024 NBA Finals giving him his first championship in his seventh season. Later this month, Tatum will be aiming for a gold medal in the 2024 Summer Olympics for Team USA. Now he gets the privilege of calling himself an NBA 2K25 cover star.

The six-foot-eight forward has made the All-NBA First Team in each of the last three seasons. Those three seasons have also seen Tatum finished sixth twice (2021-22 and 2023-24) and fourth (2022-23) in MVP voting. This past season, Tatum posted excellent averages of 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists on a Boston team that had the best record in the NBA.

Another Potential MVP Season From WNBA Cover Athlete Wilson

The 27-year-old Wilson is already a two-time WNBA MVP winner in 2020 and 2022. Through her first six seasons, she has finished top-eight in MVP voting in every one of them. Her Aces team has won back-to-back WNBA championships. Also, Wilson has won back-to-back WNBA Defensive Player of the Year awards.

The Aces currently have a 13-7 record, and Wilson is once again playing out of her mind. She is posting career-highs with her 27.0 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 2.7 blocks. The six-foot-four center is seen as the heavy favorite to win her third WNBA MVP award.
