According to multiple different reports across the NBA, Boston Celtics point guard Kemba Walker has left the game vs the Denver Nuggets with a potentially serious neck injury. The injury occurred late in the second quarter and he required a stretcher to leave the court.
Neck Injury Forces Kemba Walker to Leave Game
The overall severity of the injury is still unknown as it occurred very recently. The Celtics are certainly hoping the injury doesn’t keep him out too long as they will need him down the stretch. He has been a star for them this year posting stellar numbers. He is currently averaging 22.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists on the year. Walker has also been one of the greatest factors in Boston’s early-season success. The Celtics are currently the second seed in the NBA Eastern Conference with the third-best record overall. Walker has been the leader the Celtics have needed since moving on from Kyrie Irving in the offseason.
Walker was originally drafted by the Charlotte Hornets back in the 2011 draft with the ninth overall pick. In his time with the Hornets, he was by far their greatest player for that franchise as he made three different all-star teams. For his efforts in the 2019 NBA season, he was named to the All-NBA Third Team. In the 2019 offseason, he finally decided it was time for a change of scenery and signed with the Celtics.
No matter what the injury to Walker ends up being we are all hoping for a speedy recovery. The Celtics are one of the top teams in the entire NBA this season and are looking to contend for the title this year. In order for that to be possible, they will need their star in Walker to be at full strength. Hopefully, he will be back on the court in no time.
