LOS ANGELES — Damian Lillard remains the reigning Three-Point Contest champion after outdueling Devin Booker in a thrilling final round. Lillard outlasted Booker’s shooting masterclass despite not playing a game this season as he continues recovering from the torn Achilles he suffered last year. The victory marked his third title in four seasons. Defending that crown next year will not be easy, especially with Steph Curry set to return to the 2027 three-point contest.

Curry’s Return Raises the Stakes

This year’s contest delivered drama and entertainment, but it lacked Curry’s presence. Many consider him the greatest shooter ever. He won the event twice, in 2015 and 2021, and plans to compete again.
“One hundred percent,” Curry said about his participation. “I already scheduled it. We’re gonna bring some people. Me, Dame [Damian Lillard], I’m gonna try to get Klay [Thompson], Dev [Devin Booker].”
Steph Curry needs one more victory to tie Lillard, Larry Bird, and Craig Hodges for the most Three-Point Contest titles in NBA history. Each of them has won the event three times.
Star-Studded Field Could Follow
The Golden State Warriors superstar’s influence could attract a loaded field for next year’s All-Star weekend. Anthony Edwards would relish the opportunity to challenge the ‘old heads’ with his trademark competitive edge. A potential three-point contest lineup could feature Curry, Lillard, Booker, Edwards, Klay Thompson, Donovan Mitchell, Kon Knueppel, and Trey Murphy III.
