Report: Ben Simmons Suffers Right Foot Fracture

Going forward, this could be a big blow to the Sixers. If the tests show that he has a Jones fracture, it becomes a very tricky situation. We recently saw Kevin Durant suffer that fracture and have a really hard time getting back to his old self. He had to undergo three surgeries in six months because of it.

While the Sixers obviously want Simmons to be on the court as much as possible, they must make it a priority to not rush him back from this injury. If he tries to come back too early, it could come back to haunt the organization and Simmons himself. They need to be as cautious as possible and let the recovery takes it course, even if he sits out longer than the doctors say he needs to. Rushing this injury could really take a hit on Simmons’ career going forward.

There is currently no exact timetable on how long Simmons will be out as he is still undergoing tests. He will certainly not be ready for the start of the season and could quite possibly miss extended time in his rookie season. NBA players know how serious this injury is and how bad things can get if a player tries to rush their return. Expect the Sixers to be very cautious with Simmons’ rehabilitation and his road to recovery. But for the time being, do not expect to see the No. 1 overall pick on the court anytime soon.
