Northwestern Wildcats
Northwestern took a step back past season, going 15-19 and just 5-15 in Big 10 play. The Wildcats had posted three consecutive losses before this past year. They are now 209-209 with three NCAA Tournament berths since Chris Collins was hired before the 2013-14 campaign.
Northwestern certainly needs to improve its offense and could use some perimeter shooters. This past season, the Wildcats were 133rhas offensive efficiency as they were just 117th (46.1%) in field goal percentage. The Wildcats also knocked down only 6.4 treys a game (313th) at a 33.0% clip (241st). Leading scorer Nick Martinelli (23.o points per game) and Justin Mullins, who was a rotational player year this season, have exhausted eligibility.
Collins has signed two high school players to his 2026 recruiting class: 6-6 wing Jayden Hodge and 7-2 center Symon Ghai.
DePaul Blue Demons
DePaul is coming off its best season since 2020, posting a 16-16 record (8-12 Big East). More importantly, the Blue Demons have shown significant strides in Chris Holtmann’s two campaigns. Holtmann is 30-36, though still well below .500 in Big East play (12-28).
DePaul had a top-100 defense but was just 302nd offensively. The Blue Demons rank in the bottom 100 in shooting percentage (43.5%) and the bottom third nationally in 3-pointers (7.2) and 3-point percentage (32.5%). They lost four players to graduation, including three of their top four scorers.
Holtmann has three high school players signed fhave6, led by three-star small forward Noah Smith. Six-foot-four guard Mason Lockett and 6-9 forward Andrew Jensen are the others who have inked with the program.
