Who Is Jake Fiegen?
Fiegen has played all three seasons of his career at Cornell, improving in each season. The Winnetka (Ill.) entered the Ithaca campus as a lightly regarded prospect in 2023 despite being a candidate for Illinois Mr. Basketball.
While Fiegen finally realized his potential this year, he has been a rotational player for the Big Red since stepping on campus. However, he really developed into a high-usage player and sharpshooter this season.
Fiegen is known for his shooting off the catch with deep range. He is also an efficient slasher who finishes well at the rim — converting 70% of those attempts this year — and who knows how to control his body and be physical on the glass, as he isn’t an elite athlete.
Fiegen does have a few areas to work on this summer. He does have to improve as a creator against stronger, bigger guards, as his shooting percentage has dropped a little against top competition this year. However, what he struggles with the most against “strong teams” is getting to the free-throw line.
Fiegen also has to improve defensively. His biggest weakness is his lack of lateral quickness, which leads to fouls.
Fiegen is seen as a high-major player who projects to be a major rotational player — and potential starter — wherever he lands. Teams value his shooting, frame, and scoring efficiency.
Fiegen is currently ranked among the top 10 players in the transfer portal by On3 and 247Sports. He is also considered a top-5 shooting guard, behind Stefan Vaaks (Providence), Tyler Lundblade (Belmont), and Corey Hadnot (Purdue Fort Wayne). Vaaks, Lundblade, and Hadnot have not officially entered the portal yet, though each player is expected to.
