Warriors Head Into New York Extremely Shorthanded
Golden State is in New York, preparing for its game against the Knicks tomorrow night, starting a six-game road trip. The Warriors have already ruled out eight players for the Knicks game. In addition, Post is questionable due to an ankle sprain.
“It’s a calf strain for Al Horford and an adductor strain for Seth Curry,” Anthony Slater of ESPN tweeted earlier today. “Both out against the Knicks. Warriors will be depleted to open road trip in NY. Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis, and De’Anthony Melton all sitting on front side of back-to-back (in Washington).”
Butler is, of course, out for the season. Curry, who last played on January 30, will miss his 17th straight game versus the Knicks. He is expected to be out at least another week, though it would be a surprise if he plays at all during the current road trip.
Moody will sit out his sixth straight contest tomorrow night due to a wrist injury. The good news is that the 23-year-old is on the trip with the team. However, he is also unlikely to play Monday night against the Wizards, and Tuesday will be two weeks since the injury. Green will be sitting out his second consecutive game, though he has been dealing with the back issue for a while.
Horford figures to be out at least a week, if his calf sprain is a Grade I. But if it is of the Grade II variety, the 39-year-old may not play the rest of the season. Similarly, Curry is slated to be out one to three weeks if his abductor strain is a Grade I, though he is more likely to miss the rest of the season than Horford.
