The Basketball Hall of Fame consists of the greatest players to ever play the sport. Last year, Vince Carter and Chauncey Billups were the two most notable additions to the Hall of Fame. This time around, a former New York Knicks star has received the honor. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Carmelo Anthony is now a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. Anthony spent 19 seasons in the league and is most known for his time with the Knicks and Denver Nuggets. Throughout his career, the Syracuse alum was a 10-time All-Star, a six-time All-NBA selection, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, an NCAA Champion, and a one-time scoring champion.

Knicks Legend Carmelo Anthony’s Basketball Legacy
At his peak, Anthony was one of the most prolific scorers the game ever saw. Additionally, Anthony’s basketball impact goes beyond the NBA. He has influenced many players of the current generation, and he had an exciting playstyle. Furthermore, Anthony was dominant in Olympic play and in college.
In February, Miami Heat president Pat Riley spoke about Anthony. Riley called the Brooklyn native “one of the great players.”
“He’s one of the great players, ever. Really,” Pat Riley, the Miami Heat president, said in an interview with The Post. “A tough guard. Can shoot. Good size. Athletic. And carried a franchise in Denver for a long time, went to New York. Always a tough cover so you had to game plan for him every night. And had a great career.”
Furthermore, in November, Knicks big man Karl-Anthony Towns called Anthony “one of the greatest of all time.”
I’m a huge Carmelo Anthony fan,” said Towns, who grew up in New Jersey. “Melo’s been an integral part of my childhood and playing basketball, and if I could have kind of the career that he’s had, I’d be very, very, very blessed and honored to even be close to one of the greatest of all time.“It was cool when I was able to see Melo on the court and play against him, but in a weird way being here in New York and to be a Knick and to be with one of the greatest Knicks of all time in my life, is pretty cool.”
The Last Word
In his prime, Anthony was a top player in the league. For most, his induction into the Hall of Fame should not be a surprise. Regardless, Anthony is the newest member of the club. This is a fitting end for one of the best NBA careers in recent years.
