The Big East set itself up for more success based on the quality of the Big East recruits who signed earlier this week. Time will tell if the recent signees can live up to the hype when they start playing during the 2025-26 college basketball season. Connecticut has the No. 2 rated class according to the 247sports.com database. Butler is next among Big East teams with a recruiting class ranked 13th. Marquette’s class is ranked 14th. UConn signee Braylon Mullins is the top-rated Big East recruit.
Two members of this year’s freshman class are off to impressive starts. Georgetown’s Thomas Sorber leads the Big East with an average of 11 rebounds per game. He is fourth in scoring at 22.5 points per contest. Liam McNeeley is averaging 14.3 points and 8.0 rebounds for UConn. The ESPN recruiting rankings have six Big East signees in the top 50 in the Class of 2025. Not every current Big East star was a top recruit coming out of high school. However, landing the top talent is on the radar of every Big East program.
UConn Leads the Big East’s 2025 Recruiting Class
When it comes to signing Big East recruits, nobody is topping what UConn coach Dan Hurley has been accomplishing on the recruiting trail. That didn’t change this year.
Hurley signed current NBA rookies Donovan Clingan and Stephon Castle in recent recruiting classes. McNeeley could soon join them in the NBA. Now, he added a class that could keep the Huskies in contention for more national titles. Everybody in the Big East is chasing UConn, the two-time defending national champions, it looks like that could continue based on UConn’s recruiting success.
NBA Could Be In The Future For UConn’s Signees
ESPN has UConn signees Darius Adams, Eric Reibe and Mullins listed as top 25 recruits. There is no doubt that this looks like another strong class of incoming recruits for UConn.
Find someone who loves you as much as Dan Hurley loves @UConnMBB‘s 2025 recruiting class.

After UConn’s win over Le Moyne, Hurley told the media that bringing in guards with size was a priority.
“They [Adams, Mullins and Jacob Furphy] are big guards. The great success we have had here in the last two years with our guards is we have had those bigger guards. [Reibe] is as advanced of an offensive center as I have seen in a while at the high school level. This guy is going to be a crazy weapon.
“This class, we needed to replenish the high-end talent. The early-entry NBA opportunities that this class is going to have, they are guys who are not going to be here very long.”
Creighton Signs Texas Star
Creighton will have some big shoes to fill as Big East scoring leader Ryan Kalkbrenner is in his final season with the Bluejays. Right now, Creighton has six freshmen and three sophomores on its roster. The Bluejays signed 6-foot-6 wing Hudson Greer.

Greer played for three seasons at Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas before transferring to Montverde Academy in Florida. He is No. 27 in ESPN’s Class of 2025 rankings. Former Creighton guard Ryan Nembhard is one of the former Montverde alums.
“We are thrilled to add Hudson to our program,” Creighton coach Greg McDermott said in Creighton’s official release. “While he is an accomplished three-point shooter, his versatility and work ethic set him apart. His ability to score in different ways will fit perfectly in our up-tempo system.”
Providence, Villanova Add Talented Big East Recruits
Providence signed forward Jamier Jones, ESPN’s No. 32-rated player. Guard Dante Allen was the lone signee in Villanova’s recruiting class. He is rated as the 50th-best recruit by ESPN. Xavier added guard Nyk Lewis, ESPN’s No. 52 player.
Jaylen Harrell joins Jones in Providence’s recruiting class. Jones played at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando. He led Oak Ridge to the state championship game. Harrell was named the 2024 Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year. Marquette signee Adrien Stevens is another top Big East recruit as is his future teammate Nigel James.
Butler Adds A Pair Of Top-100 Recruits
Forward Jack McCaffery and guard Azavier Robinson will head to Butler as top-100 recruits. Jackson Keith is another signee for Butler. McCaffery is the son of Iowa men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery. His older brothers are at Butler. Connor is an assistant coach and Patrick is the leading scorer and rebounder on this year’s team.
“Jack knows how to play the game, just as you would expect from a coach’s son,” Butler coach Thad Matta said in a release. “He’s a big wing and multi-dimensional in how he can pass, shoot and make great decisions with the ball in his hands.”
