It Is More Expensive to Watch Bronny than LeBron?

Bronny James had his debut with the South Bay Lakers on Saturday, and many fans got to see him in live action. Many fans are interested in the opportunity to see the eldest son of LeBron James in live action, and that means one thing: expensive tickets.

Whether it was the economic principle of supply and demand, or fans going crazy, the ticket prices were sky-high.

Bronny’s G League Debut Ticket Prices Soar

On resale platforms, tickets for Bronny James’ G League debut were selling for 12 times their usual prices. The Lakers drafted Bronny as a developmental project, and many fans knew he would spend a significant time in the G League.

There has been a huge rush to secure a ticket for his first game, despite official tickets being sold out for Saturday’s game. The prices for the game against the Salt Lake City Stars in El Segundo reached a price of $200 each. For comparison, the average price for an NBA G League game is just $17, per Joe Pompliano. Bronny’s G League debut might be the most expensive ticket in the history of the G League. Those who already had tickets for the game tried to cash out on the surprise appearance.

Here is another interesting fact. Tickets to see the Lakers play at the Crypto.com arena for Sunday’s game against the Raptors start at $97 on SeatGeek, as of this writing. Tickets for Wednesday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies start at $99. That would say that it is cheaper to watch LeBron James and the Lakers than Bronny for at least one game.

Obviously, the Bronny effect is crazy, and some fans even joke that the Lakers sent Bronny to the South Bay Lakers to sell tickets.

Bronny’s Debut Stats

Bronny spent 31 minutes on the floor for the South Bay Lakers, a lot more than he played for the Lakers. During that period, he went 2-9 from the floor, including 0-4 from behind the arc. He also grabbed three defensive rebounds, dished four assists, blocked a shot, and got two steals. He finished the game with six points and five turnovers.

Bronny’s parents, LeBron and Savannah James were in attendance, as well as Lakers head coach J.J. Redick, general manager Rob Pelinka, and Lebron’s teammate, Anthony Davis. The South Bay Lakers won the game against the Salt Lake City Stars 110-96.

When Can You See Bronny Next?

The plan for Bronny has always been to shift between the Los Angeles Lakers and their G League affiliate. At the same time, in the beginning, Bronny will play only home games for the South Bay Lakers, allowing him to spend time in Los Angeles and work with trainers and coaches on his game.

The South Bay Lakers do not play at home again until Sunday, November 17 against the Stockton Kings. During that period, the Lakers have several home games, so he might get a chance for some playing time then.

In November, the South Bay Lakers have four more home games. They will play the Kings again on November 24, and then they have back-to-back games on November 26 and 27 against the San Diego Clippers and Rip City Remix.
