The Golden State Warriors started the season with a clean injury report. They dominated their first two games of the season against the Trail Blazers and Jazz, and the vibes were sky-high. Then, in their game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the injury bug bit them. First, Stephen Curry sprained his ankle, and now a couple more names have popped up as Warriors injuries. The Warriors injury report is starting to grow, and the Warriors depth chart will be tested over the next few games.
Golden State Warriors Injury Report Already Filling Up
The Warriors Injury Report
The big name on the Warriors injury report is Steph Curry. Curry sprained his ankle this Sunday, an injury Warriors fans are all too familiar with. Luckily, Steve Kerr told the media after the game he wasn’t expecting this to be a major injury. After an MRI, the Warriors announced that the injured ankle has no structural damage, so Warriors fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

With Curry out until at least Friday, De’Anthony Melton would naturally be in line to take some point guard minutes. Unfortunately, the Warriors have announced that he, too, is dealing with a minor injury. Melton left the Clippers game in the fourth quarter with a strained lower back. Melton will also be re-evaluated this Friday. Getting Melton was insurance for Curry injuries like this, so the missing time concurrently puts a lot of pressure on the Dubs’ guard depth.
Is Wiggins Hot Start In Jeopardy?
Andrew Wiggins is also on the Warriors injury report, but only as day-to-day with a lower back strain. Wiggins’ status for the next couple of days has become vital with Curry out, as Wiggins has been the leading scorer for the Warriors over their first three games.

Wiggins is averaging 19.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and one block per game so far this season. He is shooting an incredibly efficient 55% from the field and 57.9% from three-point range. Wiggins had a down season last year, only averaging 13.2 points and 35.8% from three, and many were wondering if they would ever see the Wiggins who helped the Warriors win the championship in 2022 again.
Wiggins being able to be a reliable scoring option for the Warriors is one of the most important factors for whether they will be able to compete in the Western Conference this season. His early play is a great sign, but this back injury is something to monitor.
Warriors Depth Chart Tested Early
With all these injuries, the Warriors depth chart will be tested early this season. Kerr has been playing a 12-man rotation, displaying the depth the Warriors have. Now, especially at the guard position, they will see how deep they are.
Warriors second-year guard Brandin Podziemski could get the lion’s share of point guard minutes with Curry and Melton missing at least the next couple of games. Podziemski was a revelation last season as a rookie but hasn’t had the hottest start to his sophomore season. He is only 1-of-14 from three to start the year, so expect him to improve upon that as he gets more looks over this week.
