The Lynx came into Game 1 as favorites to win the game and the series. After a hard-fought battle of back-and-forth basketball, the Sun came out on top 73-70. This covered the Sun +3.5 odds and went under the projected score total of 151 points.
Defense is what won the game for the Sun. They held the Lynx to 41.5% shooting from the field and only 25% from three-point range. Despite this, the Lynx stayed in the game throughout, only losing it in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. The Sun held the Lynx to only eight points in the fourth quarter on 4-of-18 shooting.
Although Mabrey’s 20-point performance led the scoring, she was not alone. Thomas had a near triple-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Bonner had a double-double as well, but with 4-of-17 shooting, she will look to improve her efficiency in Game 2. Dijonai Carrington shouldered a heavy minutes load as well, scoring 13 points with nine rebounds in 40 minutes.
This series is going to be goood‼️

Collier’s Trip Back to Earth
Napheesa Collier played out of her mind in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. In Game 1 of the Sun vs Lynx series, she came back down to earth. The stifling Sun defense held Collier to just 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting and 0-of-2 from three. Bridget Carleton was the only starter for the Lynx that shot efficiently. She was 6-of-10 from the field and shot 50% from three-point range.
The Lynx will need to find a way to get Collier and the rest of their offense going if they are going to come back in this series. Oddsmakers have confidence that they will bounce back in Game 2.
Game 2 Sun vs Lynx Odds
The odds for Game 2 are the Lynx as -5 favorite, with an over/under total set at 151. Even though they weren’t able to protect homecourt in Game 1, oddsmakers have the Lynx as -215 to win Game 2. The Sun are +172 to take Game 2 and go up 2-0 in the series.
At the beginning of the series, the Lynx were -205 to advance to the WNBA Finals, while the Sun were +172. After the Game 1 upset, the Sun are now favored to win the series, despite them being underdogs once again in Game 2. The current WNBA playoff series betting odds have the Lynx at +128 underdogs and the Sun at -152 to advance to the Finals. For those who believe in the Lynx, these odds will surely adjust if they win Game 2. Grabbing the Lynx as series underdogs now could provide some value.
