G League Trade Involves Two Former NBA Players

The G League is often a stepping stone for a player to eventually make the NBA. Not everyone is a high draft pick that is thrown onto an NBA roster from the get-go. The G League is also littered with players having NBA experience, whether it’s one game or multiple seasons.

It seems as if two G League teams have agreed to a trade, with both franchises giving up a player with previous NBA experience.

G League Trade Involves Two Former NBA Players

Trade Between Raptors 905 And Capital City Go-Go

Blake Murphy of Canada’s Sportsnet, tweeted out the details of a deal made between the Raptors 905 and the Capital City Go-Go.

Now, before Toronto Raptors fans get too excited, this is a G League first round pick, not one in the 2025 NBA Draft. Still, diehard fans of the NBA should recognize both of these names as they have some experience playing in the league.

Gueye Had Stint With Raptors Last Season

Mouhamadou Gueye, not to be confused with Mohamed Gueye, is a 26-year-old forward. Standing at six-foot-nine, Gueye appeared in 11 games for the Raptors last season. He proved to be an excellent shot blocker but not much of an offensive threat at the NBA level. In 10.9 minutes per contest, Gueye averaged 1.6 blocks to go along with 2.4 points and 2.1 minutes. He shot 11-38 (28.9%) from the field, 0-3 from beyond the arc, and 4-9 (44.4%) from the foul line.

Gueye spent much of the 2023-24 season with the Raptors 905. In 26 regular season games with the G League squad, he posted averages of 13.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.3 blocks. He shot 54.3% from the field, 21.4% from three-point range, and 49.2% from the charity stripe.

Gueye spent two seasons with Stony Brook before playing his final college season with Pittsburgh in 2021-22. He went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft.

Dotson Has Played Small Parts Of Three Different Seasons In NBA

Devon Dotson, a six-foot-two point guard, has 28 games of NBA experience over three different seasons. He played a combined 22 games with the Chicago Bulls in 2020-21 and 2021-22 as well as six with the Washington Wizards in 2022-23. In Dotson’s NBA stints, he has averaged 2.0 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.

The 25-year-old Dotson signed with Monbus Obradoiro in Spain in March of this year. In nine games for them, Dotson posted averages of 13.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.4 steals. He played two seasons with Kansas in college, and was named First Team All-Big 12 in 2019-20. He declared for the 2020 NBA Draft, but he went undrafted.
