Carmelo Anthony’s Son Among 3 Top 2025 Recruits Who Have Important College Upcoming Visits

With college basketball‘s early signing period nearly two months away, many rising seniors are starting to commit. Here is a look at three top and highly sought-after 2025 prospects and updates to their recruitment. Acaden Lewis, Meleek Thomas,  and Kiyan Anthony are the three prospects who have recently scheduled official visits.

Lewis, one of the top point guards in the nation, will be in Storrs (Conn.) for an official visit with the Connecticut Huskies tomorrow, per Joe Tipton of On3. This will be the second time Lewis will visit Storrs this summer, as the Washington (DC) native was there unofficially in June.

A four-star recruit, Lewis is ranked as the No. 34 prospect in the nation and fifth-best point guard in the class. The 6-2 lead guard recently slashed his school list to four, including UConn, Duke, North Carolina, and Kentucky.

Lewis is expected to decide in time to sign during the NCAA early signing period. He also has an upcoming official visit at UNC on October 4 and is expected to take trips to Duke and Kentucky.

Lewis is a very crafty lefty who is at his best when attacking the rim. He possesses an array of finishes, including floaters, layups, and pull-up jumpers. He is an excellent ball-handler and plays with pace, also getting after it defensively.

“Acaden is a true point guard who can really score at all three levels, can really pass. He’s a tough, hard-nosed guard,”2025 Kentucky commit Malachi Moreno told Jack Pilgrim of KSR. “Every camp I’ve been to with him, he’s always gotten better. He doesn’t back down from anything. And he’s ambidextrous, so I think that’s pretty neat, too.”

Kentucky has gained a lot of momentum in Lewis’ recruiting. Lewis recently received an in-home visit from Mark Pope and company, and 2025 commit Jasper Johnson has pitched the Wildcats to him.

“I mean, I’ve been talking to Acaden a lot, reaching out to him,” Johnson told KSR on this week’s edition of the Sources Say Podcast.  I’m definitely pushing for him, I feel like that’s a backcourt that will be very difficult for other teams to defend and stop.”

Meleek Thomas Moves Back His Official Visit To Arkansas

Thomas won’t be heading to Arkansas for an official visit this week as initially planned. Instead, the 6-5 guard will make the trek to Fayetteville to visit with John Calipari and the rest of the Razorbacks coaching staff and players on October 5, according to Tipton.

Thomas is one of the best scorers in the country, though he separates himself from other prospects on the defensive end. The Pittsburgh (PA) native is ranked as the No. 7 prospect in the country with a 98.86 rating.

Thomas has narrowed his list to seven schools. He is still considering Auburn, Kansas, Kansas State, Pitt, UConn, Arkansas, and Alabama.

Before heading to Arkansas, Thomas will visit Alabama officially next weekend (September 28). He has previously visited Pitt, UConn, and Auburn.

Here is what On3 Jaime Shaw had to say about Thomas’ recruitment.

Over the summer, around his official visit, sources told me that UConn had all the momentum. That has since died down some and Arkansas is the program that has picked up a lot of the steam. Thomas has taken a September official visit to Arkansas as well as officially visiting Calipari while he was still at Kentucky.

Thomas’s other two official visits have been to Pittsburgh and Auburn, and the Five-Star Plus+ guard has an upcoming date set with Alabama.

Kiyan Anthony Schedules 2 Visits

Anthony, the son of NBA great Carmelo Anthony, disclosed on Wednesday that he has two scheduled upcoming official visits. According to Tipton, Anthony will visit USC on September 26-27 and Rutgers on October 4-6.

Rutgers and USC recently offered Anthony. The Scarlet Knights offered Anthony on July 16, and the Trojans made their overture a day later.

Anthony is an elite scorer who can score off the catch or bounce. The 6-5 wing has good size, a solid frame, and the confidence to be an elite scorer at the next level.

Anthony is a four-star prospect rated No. 30 in the country with a 96.11 rating. He has already taken two official visits to Syracuse and Florida State. In addition to the four schools already mentioned, Anthony has Auburn and Ohio State among his top schools.

“As things stand, I am told that many are working under the impression that Syracuse is the leader, said Shaw. “Sources close to the recruitment tell me they would be surprised if he goes anywhere other than Syracuse.”
