Can the Memphis Grizzlies exceed their projected NBA betting win total? The Grizzlies had a disappointing season in 2023-24 but are looking to reestablish themselves as a Western Conference contender. A lot will hinge on the bounce back of star Ja Morant. The Memphis Grizzlies roster has all the tools to go over their projected win total odds this season, but health remains a concern.

Ja Morant’s 25-game suspension and a few injuries to key players disrupted everything for the Grizzlies last season. After returning from his suspension Morant played in nine games before going down with a season-ending shoulder injury. The Grizzlies had 592 games lost due to injury. They struggled to find consistency at home, posting a disappointing 9-32 record. They ended the season going under their win total odds with a 27-55 overall record.
Despite these setbacks, the Grizzlies demonstrated glimpses of their potential. The development of young players like GG Jackson II and Vince Williams were bright spots in an otherwise challenging season. However, the team’s inability to overcome these obstacles resulted in a disappointing finish and a missed playoff berth.
The Memphis Roster Is Back
Starting the 2024-25 NBA season, the Memphis Grizzlies roster will look healthy for the first time in a long time. The Grizzlies roster comprises a young core of Morant, Desmond Bane, and Jaren Jackson Jr.. In the two seasons before last year’s year from hell, those three led the Grizzlies to back-to-back 50-win seasons and solid playoff runs. Bane and Morant had most of last season off, and Jackson Jr. is ready to run with a stronger supporting cast.
Due to injuries, the Grizzlies didn’t get much help from their offseason pickup of Marcus Smart last year. He is expected to enter the season healthy and play a key role for the Grizzlies roster. The Grizzlies added Purdue standout Zach Edey in the 2024-25 NBA Draft. Edey is expected to take the key spot at center, and his rebounding and rim-protecting ability will help solidify the Memphis defense.

The Grizzlies also have a solid bench, essential for surviving in the Western Conference. Jackson II, Brandon Clarke, and Santi Aldama are all returning to the Memphis Grizzlies roster as key rotation players. A full season from Smart, solid bench pieces, and, more importantly, a healthy season from Morant, Bane, and Jackson Jr. positions the Grizzlies well to exceed their win total odds.
Grizzlies Win Total Odds
Right now, FanDuel has the Grizzlies projected win total at 47.5, with the odds slightly tilted toward the over. When healthy (and not suspended), the Grizzlies are a 50-win machine. The West has only gotten more competitive, and winning over 47.5 games will take another All-NBA level season from Morant and an All-Defensive level season from Jackson Jr.
Analysts and fans are high on the Grizzlies’ prospects for 2024-25. If they are healthy, they should be able to get close to their projected win total odds, but exceeding them will be a challenge. Only time will tell if the Grizzlies can return to form and cash the over on their win total odds.
