Jersey Watching: Top 5 New NBA City Edition Jerseys

NBA City Edition Jerseys Leaked on X

The 2024-25 NBA City Edition jerseys escaped into the public eye today via Twitter (X), and some of them are grand slams. Last year’s City Edition jerseys were unveiled after the season had begun as a ramp-up for the NBA’s inaugural In-Season Tournament, the NBA Cup. This time around, we’re getting a glimpse early. If you’re thinking, well, it’s a leak. Can it be true? According to SportsLogos.com, the jerseys designed are authenticAdditionally, many times these jerseys are leaked before an official release.

The NBA has a pension for playing around with alternate and specialty jerseys. Many of them hit the mark—spot on—as it were (Miami Heat black “Miami Vice” or Atlanta Hawks 2021-22). At the same time, many have failed to entice (LA Clippers 2013-14 or New York Knicks holiday popsicle orange). Hey, the NBA likes to try new things; you can’t blame them for keeping the brand interesting.

With the 2024-25 City Edition jerseys available to view now, let’s look at the five best-looking threads we’ll see in play this season.

Indiana Pacers

Similar to last year’s design, the Pacers went white instead of black. Last season, Indiana had one of the best In-Season Tournament floors, with the jerseys to back it up. They stayed the course this time, and it looks just as good.

Toronto Raptors

Everyone remembers the iconic purple jersey, accentuated by the oversized dinosaur on the front, made famous by the one and only Vince Carter. Those jerseys were fire, and the team’s choice for their City Edition look this year marks the return of the oversized Raptor on black, staying with the base color scheme the team sported last year. Resurrecting the iconic logo was a great call.

New York Knicks

The Knicks chose to stay simple and refined, as evident by keeping this year’s look in theme with last year. The layered lettering on the all-white foundation is smooth and classy. While some teams go for flash and pazazz, others keep it calm and carry on. New York is one of those teams. Well done, Knickerbockers. Well done.

Utah Jazz

It may be one of the best jerseys in NBA history and, certainly, the best look in Utah‘s—the iconic 1996-2004 design is more than just their City Edition jersey. John Stockton and Karl Malone repped this look in back-to-back finals from 1997 to 1998. The Jazz also brought this jersey back last year and are keeping the iconic jersey in their rotation. The jersey is also part of the franchise’s new look for the next two years, as the Jazz will move away from black and yellow (a wise choice).

Purple fits with sports jerseys, much like this list’s next and final one.

Phoenix Suns

As I said, purple fits well with sports jerseys, and the Suns’ City Edition look oozes Phoenix for some reason. It is reminiscent of the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL, which showcased their alternate jersey just a few years ago. The Suns have a miss and hit history with their alternate choices, but this season’s choice adds some creative salt to the mix.
