Optimism on New Head Coach

With a full offseason and the new season approaching, Vincent is optimistic and ready to work alongside new head coach, JJ Redick. During an interview with Fox40 News, Vincent spoke about this. Vincent said he doesn’t totally know what to expect in training camp but confirmed his excitement about Redick and the team as a whole.

” No not really. But, a new coach, know him a little bit off the floor, great person, excited to see how the year goes. I think everyone is looking forward to camp. We’ve had a longer offseason and we’re ready to get back and compete.”

With a new head coach of any team comes a lot of optimism. Lineups will be different additionally, roles and minutes might alter. But, with many players, they can feel a sense of urgency and excitement ahead as they play under a new coaching staff. The goal is this feeling of a new coaching staff will help energize the Lakers going into next season.

Basketball Savant

Although Redick doesn’t have any head coaching experience, his knowledge of the game is high. As a 15-year NBA veteran and analyzing the game on the media side, Lakers faithful are excited about what Redick has in store. Further into the interview with Vincent, he was asked about Redick’s basketball knowledge.

“Yeah, very, very very high IQ. I think LeBron is almost in a league of his own in many ways, but JJ’s IQ is very high. You saw that when he played, you’ve seen it when he’s doing the breakdowns at the media, day in and day out. He’s a savant of basketball as well.”

Vincent is not the only one who has praised Redick’s love for the game. Over the last several weeks, Lakers guards D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves have also made it clear that they think highly of their new head coach. Throughout his NBA career and working with ESPN, his love and passion for the game is on another level. This hopefully will translate over to being head coach alongside the Lakers’ new coaching staff.

The Last Word

Basketball fans got a glimpse of Redick’s basketball knowledge through the “Mind the Game” podcast with Lebron James. With a full season ahead, and a hopefully healthy roster, Gabe Vincent and Lakers faithful are excited to see what Redick has to offer as a head coach. There is going to be a learning curve for Redick as he adjusts to his new role. Especially for a team like the Lakers where all spotlight is on you. All in all, the pressure will be high. We will have to see if his knowledge of the game will translate over well to being a rookie as head coach.
