Thunder Schedule: 5 Must-Watch Nationally Televised Games

The Thunder-Nuggets will be one of the most exciting games of the season.

The NBA has released the 2024-2025 schedule for all 30 NBA teams. The Oklahoma City Thunder who were the number one seed last year got 25 nationally televised games on their schedule. Today we are going to look at five of those games that fans should tune in and watch. But first, before we get to those five must-watch games. We are going to discuss other matchups that aren’t televised that you should keep an eye on.

The first one is on March 31st when Josh Giddey who is on the Bulls comes back to Oklahoma to take on his former team. This matchup should be very interesting to watch how Giddey plays against his former team as well as Alex Caruso. The second one is on January 10th, when Isaiah Hartenstein returns to New York to play his former team. Then finally on November 17th, when the Thunder get their rematch against the Dallas Mavericks who eliminated them in the playoffs last year. All three of these games aren’t nationally televised but should be circled for must-watch on the Thunder Schedule. Now, we dive into the five must-watched nationally televised games for the Thunder next year.

Thunder Schedule: 5 Must-Watch Nationally Televised Games

October 24th: Thunder @ Nuggets (TNT 9:00 PM ET)

The first must-watch nationally televised game for the Thunder is the season opener for them. In which they will take on the Denver Nuggets. This will be a great game to kick-start the 2024-2025 season for the Thunder. Both of these teams are considered to be title contenders. To go along with that, it will be the matchup between Nikola Jokic the MVP last year against the runner-up for MVP in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Both of these players will get a chance to prove on a national stage if they got the MVP right last year or if it should have gone to Shai. Regardless, this is going to be a very entertaining game and a possible Western Conference finals preview.

October 30th: Thunder vs Spurs (ESPN 8:30 PM ET)

Next up on the Thunder schedule, you should circle is the first of three games against the Spurs. All three of their matchups will be on national TV. The Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren rivalry that the NBA is trying hard to focus on and for a good reason. Both of these rookies had historic rookie seasons in which the rookie of the year ended up going to Wemby. This matchup and rivalry will be very entertaining to watch for the next decade-plus. As both players enter their sophomore season, this will be the first of three to see who gets the edge over the other.

November 29th: Thunder @ Lakers (ESPN 9:00 PM ET)

Next up on the Thunder schedule that is a must-watch is when the Thunder take on the Lakers. It will be a game that is about the old guard of LeBron James taking on the young gun in Shai. To go along with that, these two teams will be forever linked as LeBron became the all-time point leader against them. Regardless, every time the Thunder play the Lakers they are always entertaining games to watch. Finally, last year the Lakers were the one team the Thunder did not want to play in the first round of the playoffs. So, it will be interesting to see if they can match up better with them this year.

February 13th: Thunder @ Timberwolves (TNT 7:30 PM ET)

The next must-watch game on the Thunder schedule will be them facing the Timberwolves. Just like the Nuggets, the Timberwolves are another Western Conference team that can come out of the West. This could be another conference finals preview. In addition to that, it will also see two of the best young stars in the NBA go head-to-head. In Shai and Anthony Edwards. Both of these players are always fun to watch especially if they are playing against each other. Both of these players would like to prove to the other that they are better than them.

March 12th: Thunder @ Celtics (ESPN 6:30 PM ET)

Finally, the last must-watch nationally televised game on the Thunder schedule is against Boston. The Celtics are coming fresh off of a finals win and will look to be the first team to go back-to-back since the Golden State Warriors. Also, both of these teams are the top favorites to come out of each other’s conferences. So, because of that, this could very well be an NBA Finals preview. Both of these teams are very similar in how they were built. Both starting five’s and what their skill sets are, are very identical to one another. This will make for a very entertaining matchup and possible NBA Finals preview.
