Fast-Rising Combo Guard Prospect To Continue Summer College Visits with Two Trips to ACC Schools

Consensus top-40 2025 prospect Acaden Lewis, the No. 1 ranked player in D.C., will continue his summer campus tour over the next few days. Lewis will take unofficial visits to Syracuse on August 1 and Duke on August 5, per Joe Tipton of On3. The trips to the two ACC schools will be his fourth and fifth unofficial campus trips of the summer.

Earlier this month, Lewis narrowed his college list to eight programs. The Orange and Blue Devils were among the programs that made the cut. Auburn, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Tennessee, and UConn are also in his final eight. Kentucky, UNC, and UConn are the other schools he has unofficially visited this summer.

Fast-Rising Point Guard Prospect To Continue Summer College Visits with Two Trips to ACC Schools

Lewis recruiting stock has fluctuated since last summer. On July 1, 2024, 247Sports Composite ranked him No. 78 in the class of 2025, but he fell to No. 100 in December.

However, Lewis has skyrocketed up the rankings since the end of his junior campaign at Sidwell Friends School. The 6-3 combo guard earned D.C. Gatorade Player of the Year honors in 2023-24, averaging 14.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.5 steals while leading Sidwell Friends to a 27-4 record and both the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference title and the DCSAA Class AA tournament championship.

Since the end of the scholastic campaign, Lewis has thrived for Team Durant in the EYBL. In 15 games played for Tem Durant, Lewis averaged 16.7 points, 6.1 assists (third-most in EYBL), 4.9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 26.4 minutes per outing. He shot 39.4 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from deep, and 80.3 percent from the free throw line.

Lewis performed well in the NBPA Top 100 camp and had a strong Nike EYBL Peach Jam.

At the Peach Jam, Lewis showed off how dynamic of his dynamic of an offensive player he can be. The lefty demonstrated the ability to knock down 3-pointers, both off the catch and bounce, consistently and with range. He also showed off his explosiveness when getting to the rim in the halfcourt and his pace in the fullcourt. Lastly, Lewis displayed excellent court vision and advanced defensive traits.

Lewis has received 18 of his 35 scholarships since April. Industry recruiting services rank him as the 39th-best prospect and No. 5 point guard. 247 Sports has Lewis as the highest among the four major recruiting services, listing him at No. 34 overall and as the sixth-best point guard in the class. ESPN has him as the 39th-best prospect. Meanwhile, he comes in at No. 55 in Rivals rankings and No. 75 in On3’s rankings.

Looking At The 8 Final Schools

Lewis told Jacob Polacheck of KSR+ that he has set dates with all eight schools for official visits but is waiting to announce them in August. However, Lewis told Polacheck he would head to Chapel Hill (NC) for an official to UNC on Oct. 4.

Relationships, playing time, and previous success are the main factors that will go into Lewis’ decision.

“It looks like the early signing period in November will be when I commit. “I want to see how everything looks on the visit since I’m going on all eight. Then, a place I can play. The roster is really important.”

Here is a look at Lewis’ eight schools with his thoughts on each program, per On3.

Syracuse Orange

Jaime Shaw of On3 said Syracuse is one of the schools that has “been” in on Lews for a while. However, coach Adrian Autry did not officially offer a scholarship until April 25, 2024.

“Cuse has been recruiting me really hard. Coach Red, Straughn, Engelstad are just great guys. I like their system and they’they’ve well with guys from my area in the DMV. I think that’that’st.”

Duke Blue Devils

Duke offered Lewis on June 22 and took an unofficial August 5.

“Its the Brotherhood. That’s arguably the most historic basketball program in the NCAA. It’s just different up there. I haven’t been up there for any visits or anything but they’ve taken in a lot of DMV guys over the past couple of years, especially from PVI. They treat their guards well and me and [Jon] Scheyer have a great relationship as well and the other coaches like Dildy.”

Auburn Tigers

Auburn offered Lewis on June 15.

“One of the main things I wanted to focus on is guard schools and I feel like Auburn is one of those as well. They treat their guards well. They get the best talent around their guards, they have great wings, play defense, and have an identity. It’s a school I could see myself at. Coach [Bruce] Pearl is really cool and so is the assistant coach, Ira. He has great ties to this area and my high school coach says he knows him very well and has trust in him.”

Kentucky Wildcats

Kentucky offered Lewis on June 17, the day he unofficially visited the Lexington campus.

“Coach [Mark] Pope and his whole staff, I could really see myself playing there as well. With his system last year, he puts a lot of shooters around you. Which would really open the court up for me which would be great. Coach Pope was really genuine. Coach Hart played point guard, went to Syracuse, and made it to the League so I would be learning from an NBA Vet who was in the league for 10 years.”

Michigan Wolverines

Michigan is the other school that made LewisLewis’l eight list that has been on him the longest.

“My dad is from Michigan and my grand mother is out there now so I have some family ties there. Coach [Dusty] May, coming from FAU, plays a really fast brand of basketball and lets his guards hoop. He encourages them to be scorers and facilitators as well. I could see myself playing there.”

North Carolina Tar Heels

UNC offered Lewis on June 12 and took an unofficial visit five days later.

“When I went on my visit there, it was great too. The pace they play is really fast and they let their guards hoop. Coach Hubert Davis is a really cool guy. I really got to meet him and his staff. They seem really genuine. Guys I could see myself around and people I think my parents would trust me around. So that was great too.”

Tennessee Volunteers

Tennessee offered Lewis on June 12.

Rick Barnes is an amazing coach. They’re known to get guys to the League and they really develop their guards. You can see that with guys like Zakai Zeigler. He went there as a dog for sure but he’s gotten a lot better since he’s been there. The guard position there is really important so it’s a place I could see myself at.”

UConn Huskies

Connecticut offered Lewis on June 15.

“UConn just felt different when I went on my visit. It was amazing. The players are really bought in over there. The coaching staff is super serious but they know when to joke. It just felt different. The practices were really quick. It felt kind’ve pro-ish. It felt different. So that was a really good unofficial and just a great school in general. They win, and you want to be in a winning culture.”
